I grew up there just wondering if anyone on the board lives there?
** Hi, I live in Greenwood,LA. I have owned three Ferraris 348ts,348 spider, 355B and an Acura NSX-T. Got married, sold out to raise my new family. Bought a new HD in 2002 and hopefully before too long can have another sportscar. The Family Man
cool greenwood is just a rocks throw, my best friend lived there. 3 Ferraris WOW im still working on my first.
** 1989 Testarossa <white-tobacco> less than 5k mi. Doctor owned. 1990 348ts <red-tan> less than 10k Doctor owned. Word of a 1995 355 Spider <green-tan> but probably just a rumor. Shreveport has had a few NSX and NSX-Ts cruising around in the past few years. Apparently they moved or sold the cars. Lots of Corvettes, a few Porsches, lots of Mercedes Benz and BMWs. I saw an Aston Martin convertable one day. Dallas has gotten like south Florida. Exotic dealerships galore and cars can be seen in lots of locations on pretty days ... especially weekends. That is the best place within 1,000 miles of Monroe to see Ferraris Lambos, Vipers, NSXes, etc on the street.
I know there are NSX's in shreveport, but none of them post on nsxprime. Sucks. I would love to meet up with some ferrari guys one day in sheveport. Do they ever get together?
** No. Ferrari owners usually drive an SUV. There is a red 360 Spider in Monroe and he drives it on occasion. There have been as many as 10 Ferraris in Monroe, but with money being tight the wallets have closed. To my knowledge there are no NSXes in Shreveport any longer. Last one besides my '95 NSX-T was a '91 silver car which sold last year. Shreveport is a Corvette city. There must be 5,ooo of them on the streets. Just last week I was at Hollywood casino and in the parking garage I counted 9 from street level to the second level.
hey family man, i'm in shreveport, still working on ferrari #1. would you recommend a local dealership to service them? does such a thing even exist ? thanks, steve
** Yea they are still in business but DO NOT take a Ferrari there unless you want to get ripped off BIGTIME. They are not authorized to work on a Ferrari. Of course I suppose your yard man could work on it but running again is questionable. This wasn't a mechanical problem I had, but a few years ago I heard they had some custom rims / tires to fit a Ferrari, so I went in there to check 'em out. I drove my 348 Spider there, parked and went inside. I glance out the window and these two workers are staring at my 348 like two buzzards checkin' out new roadkill. This older dude is on the phone talking in a foreign tongue. He motions for me to sit down and 10 minutes later he gets free. He could have been Jerry Springer's twin. I tell him what I want and he takes me into the back room. He lifts up a piece of plywood cut large enough to cover the tires. He shows me a set of Carlsson rims w/ PZero tires. The tires had slight wear on them and he said "today vee take $ 5,5oo.oo. Dey are a special vun off rem made in Ger many" ... and so forth. I go home and look the same rim and tire combo up on Tire Rack and they cost, brand new, $ 3,495.oo. The SAME thing and come to find out they are for Mercedes Benz, ONLY! That was pathetic. I suggest Foreign and Classic Auto Centre for Ferrari work in North Louisiana and Jim Lindsey in South Louisiana. <New Orleans> area.
I'm in Shreveport, but I don't have a Ferrari, yet. I sort-of know the guy with the green / tan 355 Spyder, he is in Shreveport; last I heard, it was for sale. An Ebay deal fell through, then it was back on Ebay but with no sale, I think. There is a red / tan 355 spyder that I used to see in Bossier occasionally; it had a Christian fish on it and a license plate frame that reads "Life is Not A Dress Rehearsal." There is a very nice red / tan Mondial 3.2 coupe that I see in south Shreveport (Youree / 70th) area sometimes. I've seen a red (pre-88.5) TR several times lately, once in the BMW store parking lot. There was a black 308 GTSi ('81, I think) for sale in the local paper last year with Gotti wheels; I saw it at H.D. Rogers on Barksdale. Haven't seen anything else around here in a couple of years, but I'm sure there are more. Edited to add - I forgot, I saw a yellow 355 spyder up on the outdoor lift at European Car Centre (their spelling) last year with the transmission case off.
** Shreveport is not a Ferrari town. There are more C5 Corvettes here than anything else. That is probably the best bang for the buck on the planet. Wanna see Ferraris, go to Dallas or New Orleans and on a pretty day you will think you are in South Beach. The green/tan 355 Spider has some serious motor problems. Bent valves among other things, needs a major service etc ... so the grapevine speaks. There was an '87 red Testarossa in Shreveport back before the turn of the century but it was traded off for a Honda S2000. The 355 with the fish was a berlinetta coupe, not a Spider and it hasn't been seen it in 5 years. The black 308 is owned by an Asian gentleman who wants to sell it and buy a Hummer. Seriously. This is not a Dear Abby column ... just North Louisiana where people hang their laundry on the clothesline of life.
** What brand floor is that under your 355 ? Do you have a full photo of the garage? I need a new floor in my garage. Thx ... FAMILY MAN
racedeck flooring - $3.49 per 12x12 tile - easy to install - happy with the product but I feel you must put an underlayment to eliminate a "plastic" feel under foot. will take pic and post - let me know if you want more info
** Thanks for the reply. That is about what I paid recently for ceramic tile in my home except those tiles were 14x14". I had commercial 12x12 inch tile in my Ferrari garage once and due to the weight of the car, the tiles separated and some broke. Thx ... FM
** I stand corrected concerning my recent flooring job. I should have asked my wife <they know this sorta stuff ya know> how much the tile cost. She told me a buck fifty six ... not $ 3.49. I feel better already that she saved some money.
** Vinal tile ... that's funny! It came from United Tile. BTW, that is < not > installed. Maybe I misled you by not posting the price installed ??? Family Man
Yes I know the red 360 Spider your talking about, he lives about two or three minutes away from my aunts house. Her new neighbor is also a car fanatic and just bought a red/tan 355 spider, he has only driven it once. I'm not sure how many of the members here live in LA, I live in Monroe... And speaking of shops which service Ferrari's, there is one down on Louisville that my friend works at, they had a red 308 in for a valve job not too long ago.
