    Steve,
Daytona for me. I saw this car on Sunday and was blown away by it.Fantastic condition, presence , colour and, to my mind it sums up what Ferrari's are all about.

    Steve,

I think your 288GTO is soooooooooooo great and its a real classic. I would not change... A car for ever. The 288 GTO was the car the turned a supercar to the road....

I voted for the 275. But if I was lucky enough to afford it I would probably go for something older such as a 250GT or if that was too much a Lusso.

Its the 275 for me. If you can I'd also keep the GTO as its the ultimate classic for me.

By the way is the GTO coming to Leeds on Sunday?

    Steve,

You really are aginising over this one aren't you? 365 or 275? It's a win-win situation. But bearing in mind the fact that you have had a Daytona, it's goota be the 275, surely?

    Up the classics!!!

I know someone who has owned both the 275GTB/4 and the 365 at the same time. Both are beautiful examples, and evocative of a great era of front-engined design, but...

...he now only has the 365 left of the two. The 275 proved too troublesome an ownership proposition apparently - incessant tinkering yielded little trouble-free time - the car was very well cared for, but it drank oil like a flame above an Iraqi oil well. Looked fantastic though.

If only one has to stay...The Daytona. Its a beast..sounds much better and goes much stronger .

I only drove a 2 cam 275 GTB and it felt weak compared to the Daytona. Now i know those cars arent about performance anymore but the Daytona has both..looks and Speed.

I love the 275 but it felt too slow/weak compared to the Daytona.

Plus the Daytona is worth less than 50 % of a 275 GTB4.

    Steve,
I've been lurking around here for a while now mainly reading the Vintage section as I was planning to buy a Daytona in the Spring / Summer. However I'm almost decided that if I'm going to do it I may as well go all the way, so am now considering attaining my dream, a 288GTO.
Whilst I'm not anticipating running it on a shoestring I would like to get some ideas about running costs before I commit.
Was wondering if you could give me some idea about likely costs for the GTO

[ PM me if you'd rather not put on public forum ]

    Thanks Paul

IMO the 275, otherwise you will always be left wondering what if?

I feel terribly disloyal to my beloved Daytona saying this (particularly in light of Tony's very kind comments) - but I suppose human nature forces me to hanker after something I don't / couldn't have, so I'd go for the 275 GTB/4.

Having said that, I think the Daytona is the greater car - but the 275 is more 'special' (and for me, that's the attraction of having an older Ferrari).

Steve - I think for the collective pride of us UK Ferrari chatters, it is very important that you buy a 275 4 cam (and can I add on a personal note that I hope you get one with the steel wheels, not wires...)

    Steve,

from purely an aesthetic point of view the 275 just does it for me. It also wins in the exclusivity arena but clearly comes second in the financial outlay (clearly the last two are inversely correlated). Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to, I can't comment from an owners perspective.

Overall I would say get the 275 IMHO

    John,

I'm intrigued, Why the Steel wheels, surely the Borrani's are more in keeping with the original ?

    Everyone else,

My decision to buy a 275/4 has not changed, I am already in Hunt mode, and you know what that's like once you get started! - I saw this thread and just wondered what the UK contingent thought about the 2 cars, The Daytona seems to hold a "Special" kind hold over our US cousins, So please don't think I am still waivering, Sooner or Later I will find the right car and it will take pride of place in my Garage.

    ATB,

    Steve

I think both types of wheel were available from new, with the steels as standard and Borranis as options (or maybe standard in the US...?).

Certainly the original sales brochure shows the car with steel wheels...

Just personal preference - not very keen on wire wheels on anything post 1960 (and certainly not on 275s or Daytonas).
