    Greetings:

I'm still on the upside of the learning curve re. certain ignition electronic items.

Can anyone explain exactly what this ignition module does?

It looks like a power module. If so it tells the coil when to discharge.

If it is a Lucas module, then the purpose is to keep your car ... in the dark. Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.

There is also a Bosch equivalent available at most regular parts stores.
This is the unit (in the 328, at least) that sits on the top of the coil and has a history of failing (at least with me).
Ferrari does not sell them separate, but sells you the module and coil as a unit which they are quite proud of, judging from the price.

    hope this helps
