Mankato, Countach and Mrs. SMS in happier times heading out from the cabin for a little romp in the Hoosier National Forest. Who said you can't enjoy high spirited animals in a human enviroment! (I guess they are kinda like exotic cars, not practical, but we make it work out for the love and passion of it).

    SMS,
That's a beautiful animal! How much did he weigh? Was he tame as a regular dog?

Hahaha, of course not, I was lifting the whole car, not just the tire! :)

Andy passed away last month. It was very sudden. We are still quite devastated--he was really sweet and loving. There's a very cute bone with his name engraved on it at a pet cemetary nearby.

    37 lb cat???? Pics?

Oh wow, what a great and heartwarming thread! The cats are adorable, and the birds are so funny, and those great looking dogs! Oh, I cannot forget the iguanas. :)

    tvrfreak,

I see your Sammy! We had two that pulled sleds like crazy. Nothing cuter than a Samoyed puppy.

Here's one short wolf story for you.(we have a million of them)
I wanted a good snow photo, so one morning to get that shot above, we went into the woods, Just Mankato & I. I sat on the ground in front of him and tossed snowballs on his head and in his face to make it look all white. He was allways too fast to shake it off before I could shoot the camera. This went on for about an hour I guess. I finally gave up. Did you notice "all" the snow on his nose?

    Matt, to answer your questions,
He weighed between 80 and 95+/_ depending on season, coat, etc...
He was "walk-on-a-lead tame" but most everything else was full throttle with him. There was not ANY hint of agression however except at feeding time. He was pretty food agressive, as if every meal would be his last, even though I never let him down! He was also very predictable in his routines, maybe he actually trained us to do things his way. Very smart too. Look at the sledding picture, Mankato has a little slack in his green tag line. When he was half a step behind it wasn't much work! That was ok with me, but poor Countach had to do all the Pulling.

echrist, It's hard to get used to the new "Parsons Russell" that the AKC has changed the name too. I'll stick with Jack just to irritate my dog friends.
BTW, I like your 308 QV.

I'll stick with Jack Russell, too. :)

Here's my 8-month old Jack named Zoe, biting my camera strap when I tried to take her picture.

I just heard them referred to as Parsons Russell this week. We got our first JR about 20 years ago. They've been Jack Russell's for 20 years. I'm sorry, but I CAN'T change to Parson Russell. That would be a Jack Russell owned by a preacher.

I'm including a better copy of the picture.

My family and I have 2 dogs, Hondo and Charlie. I don't really have a picture of Hondo but I got one of Charlie. I found it really funny when I took the picture. I guess when its pitch black and you have a bright flash, this is how it turns out...

Arrrggg... IMHO, "Jack Russell Terrier" is the only proper name, despite what that AKC and their silly organization comes up with. Want real JR's? Check out www.terrier.com.

Here's my Jack Russell on the gondola lift headed up for a day of hiking near Grindelwald, Switzerland -- sitting beside Mrs. JackRussellRacing.
