    im finally ready to take the plunge, if fchat gives the thumbs up that is. hre 540r 18x8 front, 18x10 rear polished lip and black center with ferrari horse caps. kumho mx 225/40 and 295/35 tires.

    That seems sort of expensive, but I don't know what HRE's cost these days. I got 17x8 and 17x9 GTO style wheels with Goodyear F1's (225/45r17 and 255/40r17), two extra wheel caps, lugnuts, and mounting for $3500.

    I like the HRE 547R better, but that's just my opinion. I'm not a big fan of aftermarket wheels in general and would probably spend my 5 grand on another part of the car instead. But, if you like them and have been saving up, why not?

    I prefer the 547R because I like seeing break disks :)

    If these are you choices, then get the 540r. But please, not polished or chrome! yuck!

    I like the 547 better.

    'But on thing I will neve have on any future vehicle is spokes on a wheel that are smaller than my fingers with a rag wrapped around. I had a set of 540-like wheels on a 320 bimmer, I hated each and every wash job simply because of those wheels, My fingers could not reach in a remove the brake dust with a rag on.

    So, in general I find my wheel styling position is "simpler is better".

    I prefer the 540R.....

    though Matt's car looks pretty sick with those wheels :)
    they both look awesome!
