the dashboard brake light just started going off intermittently. pads seem low but i dont understand why light goes on and off if pads are worn. shouldnt the light just stay on?

The brake pad wear sensor activates by actually touching the brake rotor surface to complete the electrical circuit. So pad vibration and/or rotor warp is causing the intermitant light.

BTW, this is the same light that iluminates when brake fluid level is low, so inspect that too.

Transfering the old pad wear sensor to new pads (aftermarket pads) is virtually impossible because they're so fragile (probably Bakelite). You'll only get new sensors with OEM pads.

    Best regards,

    Rob Schermerhorn

I've used the same sensors on my F355 and it has gone through 6 sets of pads in the last two years (on the race track). The trick is changing the pads before the sensor goes off.
