After seeing this car (or another like it) at Monterey a few years back, I have thought about replacing my T Cab with one. Unfortunately, the cost of the conversion is just too much to justify given the addage that a cut car is worth exactly what the uncut car was worth - if it was done perfectly. (40k to convert at Newport, Straman was retired at the time I was looking.) In any case, I thought you might enjoy the picture as well as a link to Sheehan site with other photos. This model is also supercharged...

yet ANOTHER example of the SERIOUS money F S.p.A. is leaving on the table by not producing convertible versions of the 456, Scaglietti, Maranello, etc. etc.

i tell ya, if they announced a 575M Maranello Spider - softop with a removable hardtop (like the R129 SLs and 996 Cabriolets) i think i'd risk the depreciation hit to order one new and trade my 550 on it. but i ain't holding my breath.

    doody.

PS: i'm not much of a 456 fan at all, but that car is beautiful.

Does anyone else think that top looks kind of cheap and poorly made?

Really? I think that it looks so bulky. It's baggy in some places and tight in others. Convertibles these days have such nice streamlined tops and this falls far short imo.

Agreed... we need a convertible that seats at least 4... the best option for that right now is the 911... if the 456 were available as a convertible, we'd be driving that... or heck, even if the Maserati came in 4-seat convertible, the 911 would be gone... but no, they won't do it.

I totally agree with that sentence... and I think a convertible Scag could be quite the looker.
