    Guys,

If you read it carefully, the auction is for a "fee" to place a bid on the car....the car will sell for many $100K's....sorry....

This is a feeble attempt by some lowlife dealer (!) to make a quick buck.

    Martin can confirm.

    Best,
    Mike

Actuallly Mike, the ad copy does not state what you suggest above. Unless the description was revised, the ad implies the winner gets the car.

Now I know nothing abt this car nor the seller, but just a word of caution... those pix are the same ones which have been all over the net. Im not convinced that this is a legit auction.

    Martin... whats the deal here?

Yeah, I think he changed ads....there was another ebay ad earlier that talked about the current bid at $155K...this is definitely a different ad.... needless to say, this guy does NOT have the car. The car is owned by the insurance company and is under salvage dealer auction (I am one...in addition to being a dealer).

Still - this guy has some pretty serious balls. He has a perfect ebay record after 1600+ auctions. To pull a stunt like that is quite surprising if he can't deliver. I've never seen another seller with more than 500 auctions with a perfect record. Damn.

The story I heard was that the owner let his son drive it out in the rain (at night?) and he lost control...

    Can anyone confirm this?

I know others hate it when ^^^^^ that is posted, but it is pretty good info a week before it showed up on ebay. It is the real thing. (have to register to see pics).

You can always cancel an auction. Not nice, but the ebay way.

but here's the car again re-posted on ebay by who I presume to be a different seller (this guy with 304 feedbacks, and decent "ebay" record)

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=2459802100

What's going on with this thing- is it "up for bid" from some insurance company amongst liquidators/dismantlers, who are trying to "pre-sell" it on ebay before putting their bid to the insurance company (with a nice spread/profit for themselves?)

Maybe they're using ebay to define the price of this car. Not a bad way for them, but leaves the potential buyer with the short end of the proverbial stick.

Hey Speedy, don't flame P-Town. That happened down in Tampa. The guy musta been trying to dodge all those old folks riding those 3-wheeled bikes around with the flag on the back.

Why would the insurance company pay out $1.3 million? Wouldn't they just pay out replacement cost, which could be argued as MSRP?

Who going to sell one at MSRP? Unless there is someone that really wants out of his purchase, but I can't think of anyone in there right mind to take such a loss. Insurance companies pay a market value of the auto.

I'm suprised the car held up so well in that crash. Says alot about the design. Any chances Ferrari SPA would buy it back to save it? That's the only place if not the very few that can.

Too late!! I bought it and I'm going to make a planter box out of it.

Fill it with daffodils and begonias, put an oak tree in front of it, at point of impact.
