I'd swear that my wife's ex-'78 FIAT Strada fuel gap was exactly the same as my ex-'78 308GTS -- you might try some FIAT sources.

I did the same thing as Steve and purchased the polished metal gas caps with the F-logo.

The first one I bought was from the dealer, and is the one used on the 355's -- but it also fit my 308QV...paid roughly $100.00 for it.

The second one I purchased was from the same eBay seller that Steve mentioned. Gevans is the seller, and he's a very reputable exotic car independent mechanic, and sells a lot of OEM new and used parts. He's very reputable, first class, and ships super fast. The gas caps he's selling are identical to the one I purchased from the dealer. I put this one on the TR.

Here are a couple of pics. The first one is the 308QV cap, and the second one is the TR cap:

Stacy called the US guys about getting a gas cap. Told me to go to the dealer and quit wasting his time. Not the most friendly guy to say the least.

    austin,
You'd think, but how often do people need a new gas cap, unless they lose it? :)

Nah. Most kids I know couldn't even find the gas cap on my 308, let alone figure out how to get behind it, what with the locked louvre and all.

If you ask me, the whole gas cap / locked louvre situation was one of the (many) things Ferrari got right on our 308s :).

    Speedy,

You KNOW you want one of the alum ones <very evil grin>. i held off getting the alum one for the longest time, but EVERY TIME i filled her up i KNEW the crappy stock one just, well... it $ucks!!!

Look, we are driving a FERRARI DAMMIT so get the alum one :)

Some days you just HAVE TO admit that non concourse parts are better :)

    Enjoy the Drive,

This thread suggests that the alfa part from international-auto might fit.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/224138.html

I would be willing to take the bet that it does, since lots of ferrari parts seem to cross reference with either fiat or alfa parts.

Geez, a $70 gas cap would double the value of my GT4 :)

Lucky you, my GT4 has no lock for the gas port.

I have a stock concourse gas cap to trade for an aluminum polished one, any taker?

BUT.... if your car is broken, in the shop, out for painting.........

You don't even NEED a gas cap, he--, a red shop rag, jammed in there, will do.

I still crack up when I think about the part of the emissions test where they check the cap for vent operation. The guy looking at this basic threaded cap, steel plate, no sign of a hole, he turns back to the DOT computer and types "Passed" LOL.

Next time you see a cool cap, snag it down for me!

Does that girl have a SISTER? LOL
Ya'll come down for the Rodeo!

Austin308, did you go back and LOOK for it?????????

    Austin,

The best (ie. cheapest) source for a replacement gas cap is International Auto Parts at

    http://www.international-auto.com/pdf_files/IAP12.pdf

as Dave Handa mentioned. I bought one from them as a spare.

Alan, my original cap looks like yours, a steel cap with a black plastic surround.

Here in the land of Kalifornia, $80 will buy just ... 2 tanks of super unleaded.
