Dave: As i recall, she was not unattractive. But, the terms of use probably should be clarified to prohibit FUGLY chicks, just to be safe. I guess Rob is applying his literal no-nakedness rule, which permits scantily clad things, but no exposed aureole, nipples, etc. Gosh, i heard something about this recently. "Broadcast Standards" indeed. Your point is no different in some ways than the constant flogging of violence on TV, which is deemed perfectly acceptable, but show 'em a tit, and watch out! If anything happens on Ferrarichat today, i'll let you know.

 

Dave, there's been plenty of vulgar, obscene content in the past; i think Rob only started really enforcing that terms of use since the incident you referred to... Before that incident, though, it wasn't unusual to see "vulgarity" in a few threads - sometimes, going on simultaneously...!

 

What's really shameful is that in our country a picture of breasts is considered obscene.It's not a uncommon practice on message boards here though.On some I visit you would have been banned for good.

Dave, dls, for what its worth Rob posted in GFD about the new changes including a " from this point on " warning about certain conduct. he also warned that even vets of the site would not be immune, its an all or none rules enforcement, at least as i understand it. i enjoy most of your posts, and i am only adding this to your thread in case you missed the long one that ROB has in GFD. please understand i am not taking any side or saying you did anything wrong. perhaps you should read the thread Rob posted for some answers. respectfully , michael

On a more serious note.

I find this newfound moderation a bit in the side of "hypocrisy" in this site. If I remember correctly, another person's moderation merited him crude nicknames like Napoleon and Hitler. When in fact users of his site welcomed this filtering of rubbish. So much so that his user base grows stronger. He does not hide behind moderators. As a matter of fact when he assigned moderators due to personal time constraints he granted them complete autonomy to the point they can even delete the site admin's threads. Back to Dave's point about the disgusting content of previous posts as opposed to his harmless post. Keep in mind, decency levels vary throughout the world and you do have a worldwide audience. Maybe this needs further clarification on the Terms and Conditions?

How about adhereing to something like movie ratings? G-XXX. Since profanity is already banned, it looks like G is where this site is headed. Maybe this is a more understandable way for folks to relate?

I stepped away from this board for a month or more, I think, due to the out of control posts and incessant fighting. I came back because someone had told me that my name was being mentioned in a thread and they would be thankful if I came in with some clarification. After I posted, others convinced me to give FChat another shot. My timing could not have been worse, I suspect. I came right in time to see NNO (who I found out to be DES/Sickspeed) just use the board as his personal toilet. Looking back at the rest of the threads I also saw, well...more fighting.

I've always been in support of moderation, and thought it was sad that there was none here.

Although I realize that the risque pics are few and far between compared to the amount of posts on the board, their presence has made me hesitant to explain to my family exactly where I meet my Ferrari buddies... for fear my young teenage brothers will start lurking on the board. If not for that, I would not worry if my 12 and 14-year-old brothers (or wife) visited Ferrarichat, except I also worry about them being exposed to the incessant Ferrari vs. Lamborghini banter .

Even though you can find worse content on Canadian cable TV, I agree with Rob that it should be enforced that swimsuit pics should have an actual swimsuit[/b]. This maintains a standard of propriety and *some* class that sponsors and most family users can accept generally.

 

Keep justifying that to yourself NO if that is going to make you feel better.

I agree with Ryan. If I remember correctly, there was a thread on the old F-chat that people started to post some pornographic images. I asked people to refrain from that on F-chat and a lot of other people also requested the same. In my opinion, that is one of the many things that we should do here to maintain and increase the F-chat experience.
