Guys, while having a blast driving around / sight-seeing with my new Ferrari 360 and enjoying cruising in the traffic with my Ducati 996. I realized I have not been accompanying my Supercharged 540i for sometime now. It is 9:15 PM and I just took my 540i on a couple of highways and I REALLY opened it up. MAN THIS THING PULLS! Spanking some Civics and WRXs (Yep, how pathetic, but they wanted to play) and finally saw a yellow Z06 who's willing to join the rampage and we had a couple good runs (pretty even from 110 ~ 140, yet smoked good him after 150mph, Z06 dude is as crazy as I). Traffic was mild and it was fun. Bottom Line: MAN! My 540i can pull. HARD!! YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Bring on the W211 E55! JIMMY (PS: Ok, Waiting to be lectured) (file photo from my site @ www.Jimmy540i.com )
LOL, Jimmy! I get those urges quite often, but I won't go anywhere close to the speeds you were doing. If I am in your part of the world, just let me know when you gonna unleash the beast, and I will stay outta your way.
Jimmy, Take that 996 to the track. By the way, I saw your capristo on eBay so does that mean that the Tubi's on the 360 already?
Jimmy, go into service mode on the Dash display and to test 8. It gives the ACTUAL speed of the car and not the offspeedo. It is in kilometers but it is nice to know how fast you are really going. Also noteable is test 7 which tells the current coolant temp in degrees. My E38 runs 94-97 C and my rover 110-112 C.
Jimmy, Isn't your 540i an automatic with a supercharger? I saw your site some time ago when I hung around roadfly.org Just out of curiosity, no offense intended. Why did you get an automatic and not the 6-speed? If I am thinking of someone else, then I apoloize for the question. MJG
Auto or 6-spd, I respect you for getting these speeds espeually racing Z06's and the like! Many carguys out there love you(!), keep up the quick driving! Safe driving means both hands on the wheel, drop your right foot!
Your first favoritee car is always going to be your main love. Even if I was a millionaire I would still want a 30 P.S.I ATI procharged 383 stroker 96 Impala SS with 250 shot, along with my many Ferraris, it was my first car love, even more than Ferrari. I love Impalas (hence my name) It's perfectly fine.
Yes, I love Impalas myself!! Thats of course evident by Avatar My car is literally 30 years your SNs senior. I have a 64 and 66, and planning on getting many more. Im considering finding a 61-64 4 door, choping the top, and make the rear doors suicide. I think it would be great! My freind keeps telling me "stop messing around with Impalas, and just get a ferrari already" I would, but I just love my beauties so much! Have you seen the Combonation Motorsports 96 Imp? 735 hp and 795 tq of terror! I still plan on getting a 96 SS someday soon. I was actually going to have a SN along the line of yours, but just did a combo of what I love both.
Hey Omar, not to hijack or anything,, but how do you go into service mode? When comparing my '01 530 to a GPS, I find over 55 the speedo error rises exponentially. It would be nice to check it onboard somehow. Damn warranty shortener . You can PM me to cut down on needless traffic. Dave
I love when the older cars have suicide dorrs, it looks great. That Combonation motorsports SS is aweasome, have you seen the dyno video of it? It is so loud.
Hey, any of you Impala folks have hydraulics or air bags...? Hey, Jimmy540... Hot stuff, man, you're an inspiration to us all (or most of us, at least)... Never thought a Beamer would spank a 'Vette at triple digits... Where's Ferretti...?
I use to have a video where a supercharged M3 was taking a 360 on the highway in some Middle Eastren country or something like that. The M3 wasstaying right with it at speeds even approaching 160 and 170 if I remember correctly. It was amazing, eventually the 360 would slowly pull away, it was so loud, I loved it.
Dave, I feel honored to be able to help you for once! Here it is, works for any E38 (we were the first to get this in 95 ), E39, X5, and yes, 2003+ Range rovers! (we are the last car/truck based off of the E38 electrical platform) http://users2.ev1.net/~giray/E38secretdisplays.htm I have it unlocked on both my rover and my E38. The coolant temp is great to see how hot you really are, and the speed is also wonderful since it is the same as the one the ODO uses, and is calculated from the rear tire...blah blah blah, in a nutshell its sans the BMW speedo error. When my car is warm, thats almost always what I have on. PS to turn it off, just go into sport mode on the auto, and the display will go back to normal.
I hope I'm mistaken, but is this the same Jimmy that used to troll roadfly.org selling cheap aftermarket xenons to the E39 crowd with a bunch of members posting complaints??
Jimmy you are nuts doing 140 in a 45mph in downtown. Man I wonder what the cars you flew by were thinking. Beautiful 360 and 540 by the way. I had to sell my 5 series recently so the wife could get an X5. Do you still have your X5 as well?
Yes, that was some crazy stunt which I don't do it anymore (guess I grow-up) Yes, I will have the X5, you can see my E53 here: http://www.jimmy540i.com/jimmybmws.htm
I have seen you around town...car looks good, BUT take that 4.4I emblem off of it for **** sake!!! my .02 DL
