Don't know the guy, guess I'm too new to the board to have run into him. But, have to agee with the second point, misbehave, personal attacks, ban 'em for a month, or ban 'em for life.

I'm not here for the personal b.s., I'm here to talk to other Ferrari people who know more about them than I do, or, who just love the cars.

I don't think I made myself clear in my earlier post. I'm not accusing Mr. Green of using foul language and making personal attacks on other members. Some of his posts were inane and had no business being on FerrariChat, at least in my own opinion. He didn't use good judgement. Again, in my own opinion, the response to that should be either to ignore him, or to say "Mr. Green, I think your POST is ridiculous." The response should NOT be, "Mr. Green, you are an ******", or "Mr. Green, your momma should have had an abortion."

Again, PERSONALLY, I don't understand why he wants to post here, but I think his posts are less offensive than the venomous responses. And it isn't something that Rob should have to deal with. There should be mature use of this site from all sides.

I agree with Doody and Eugenio

As surprised as I was to see this thread I find it more baffling that you are putting it to a poll. It's your site Rob, do you want Green back? I'm a participant here and I enjoy it here but I don't pay the bills or have to recruit sponsors.

While many of Green's posts were annoying I found the inevitable repetitive responses to be more so. While his posts rarely yielded anthing of interest it was the responses that were questionable at best.

You asked for my vote, so here it is. I have no problem with anyone who wants to participate here. I'm not a fan of banning. If a member starts acting like a world class turd the best defense you have(far better than banning) is to simply ignore him. Nobody likes to talk to themselves.

I haven't seen any of Mr Green posts but I've encountered guys like him in other forums. They don't change!!!

Perhaps he has also been thrown out of the other forums and he's crawling back here.

    I vote, NO.

There seems to be about 5-10 guys on here who do most of the posting and only respond to each other, even when spoken to directly by one of the other users who has a lower post total. It seems that you must reply to every post you can with useless comments to raise you total to get these guys to talk to you. If this kid is pissing them off, I say let him in. It'll be fun to watch.....

Easy to vote NO. He never showed much interest in Ferrari but more of an interest in pissing off the members.
But can't he just sign up with a new user name?

I am just a regular follower of this forum, and love the cars. My opinion may not count as much, but I am not sure what the poll will accomplish. Mr. Green can always sign up under another name and post if he wants. So from Mr. Green's perspective whether he is reinstated or not doesn't seem to matter. If he wants to 'come back' and participate, let him come back. I don't see the difference between reinstating him, and Mr. Green sign up through another name. People that ignored him before will probably still ignore him. It takes 2 to fight. So, if no one respond to any flame bait, then it will not become a flame war. My $0.000001 :)

I follow several forums, and fchat is definitely one of the better ones in quality and substance. Members are knowledgeable and respectful, but there is always few exceptions to everything, just don't let it get to you.

Unfortunately, I will have to vote NO.

Bottom line he blew it because of his own problem and that is his loss. The guy has issues and he has been unprofessional. Everyone has issues, but there is such a thing as thinking about others in the community and not just about one self. Frankly, the guys sounds manipulative. He needs to find a better forum such as a men's sef-help or leadership forum. He has absolutely nothing to offer the forum and has shown time and time again based on reading posts and friends comments etc that cannot be trusted.

Another word to the wise, money or ferrari won't buy you prestige or class. Feel bad for his problems, but you have to have class. He's always free to find another forum.

i spoke with "Mr. Green" on the phone and he came straight out and said he didn't care that everyone was annoyed by him; he said he did what he was doing because he enjoyed and "was having fun"... Just FYI...

It's not a right to be here, it is a priviledge which he abused.

It's just a chat board, it won't kill him not to be here, and only this way will limits and an example be set. I wouldn't worry about him as there are a million other chat boards. I can bet the sponsors would not want him driving away 'real' Ferrari people.

    No.

There are other people I would banish before him.

However, I believe that everybody deserves a second chance. Let him in and if he fails again, then banish him forever. It is only fair. What ever happened to " three strikes and you're out"? Give him 2 strikes. That makes sense.

The policy should read - Off for 90 days then reinstated. If we have to take you off again then goodbye.

People's memories are much too short. A ban should last at least one year before someone should be considered for reinstatement. Otherwise, what is the point of the banishment?

Amen brother. The guy only wanted to stir up trouble with his lame racist posts. He doesn't care about Ferrari's or the other members. This guy just wants to start flames. He is the only one on my ignore list.

Normally I would agree with most people on this thread who have said NO WAY!!!!! But in light of the fact that no one was banned or reprimanded for the vulgar filth that was posted two weeks ago I have a hard time telling Mr. Green he can't have another chance when the people in the other offensive post got a second chance and were not banned.

Give him a second chance, and maybe even limit his ability to post if that can be done. Allow him 2 posts per day.

Like a few others have said. First dumb post is his last.

To clarify, Mr. Green did have several short-term bans and about a half dozen chances. Looks like we're not going to get 2/3rds at this point, so it's really immaterial discussing Mr. Green now.

Now I'm more interested in hearing about what you think of this as an official process for the future. Most things I have to make the decision on to be efficient. Most things are also no brainers, but things like this where we have a divided community I think an open thread and voting is appropriate. Thanks.

Gee, I didn't realize you had already that much effort with bans etc. Sounds to me, you're almost too good of a benevolent dictator. You shouldn't be wasting your time with bans etc.

Using a poll like this wears out quickly I think and is too much effort on your part. Although there are obviously risks involved I'd say let the users send you (or the moderators) a PM when they get too annoyed about another user and we'll leave it to your discretion to pull the plug.

I'd like you to enjoy your own site and make it better in other ways (e.g. registry). But you shouldn't be wasting your precious time with troll jurisdiction.

Moderators are set up to ban. I like that benefiting my time. I'll also trust your decisions. Worse case we'll just talk about it afterwards and see if it's still the best choice.,

I have to say no for the simple reason of keeping the flame wars down. I come to this site to review what everyone else in the world is doing, where we are headed, and if we can throw some Ferrari information in there, great. Overall I think there are a great bunch of guys on this board and I remember the thread that Gary caused that proved to be a nuisance more than anything.

People do change, but not that quickly.

I have to respectfully disagree. This is NOT a democratic community and you are wholly responsible for the site, not the plebiscite - as you should be as you assume the responsibilities and pay the bills and get whatever profits. If the site gets hit up with a legal action, they are coming after you no matter how many polls you take.

So, you are not so much a president as you are a commander or CEO. We all appreciate you trying to gain consensus, but it is very safe to say that everyone here is not going to jump ship over issues like this crap. It IS a FERRARI Chatroom, and that is its core mission. GG was really just an off-topic non-enthusiast poster that repeatedly even after warnings took advantage of the this really good Ferrari enthusiast community.

Like Adm Nimitz said: 'When you're in command, command.'
Make a decision, take responsibility for it and let's stop wasting bandwidth.

    best,
    rt
