Why ? - You don't normally fill the car up when the Clam Shell is open, There is a filler aperture in the body work, and a vapur seal that fits aroound it, Only dangerous if your filling up with the clamshell open, marvelling at that flat 12, whilst lighting up a spliff, talking to your missus on the mobile - I would assume ?

That's a cool, unusual interior, with the piping.

There's a Boxer for sale in California that has black with grey cloth inserts.

These cars are way awesome, we've got two here at the shop that need good homes. Wish I had room in my garage!

Lovely car, but I don't like the plate, and dare I say the interior looks just a touch tarty?

    ...I'll get me coat, etc.

I was in Talacrest on Thursday and they had a 512BBI in Argento Nurburgring with Dark Blue Hide which was one of only 42 UK RHD cars built between 1982-1984. 24,500 recorded miles. All for £45,990.

Guy was saying that these are a bit fragile!! any comments on this?

    Wazza,

The car is completely standard engine wise, The air boxes are original, The interior has been re-trimmed and the GTO badges have been added at sometime, The Expensive way by setting them into the front clamshell, I would think that this makes this particular car "Unique".

    Mark,

I not sure what he means by "fragile" the flat 12 boxer engine is one of the most bullet proof designs ever conceived, when they do go wrong, (Which isn't often), they are expensive to fix, But normally they are far more robust than cars of similar vintage and performance. The electrics aren't great and need careful manitenance, but then Ferrari still aren't known for good wiring to this day !

    Yeah, that car looks magnificent.
    The engine especially.
Cant believe it's done 40,000 miles.

There is a 89 328 I noticed the other day with 1350 miles.

What is that triangle shaped box in front of the shifter ? Neither my BB512i nor any I have ever seen had that. And, are those speakers in the door jams ? Thay're not OEM either are they ? I know I've never seen such before. And that antenna....that looks neat. Is that a U.K. market only antenna ? Does the car also have an antenna in the windsreen ? Where can I get one of those antennas for my Boxer ?

The triangular shaped box is a Ferrari retrofit, It's a conveniently placed battery isolation switch that can be used during periods of storage. The speakers in the front forward door sills are indeed OEM and were part of the uprated stereo spec. The antenna I'm not sure about but I have seen many UK cars with the same type, so one can only assume it's a standard UK/Euro spec arial, (I say Euro because I have seen LHD cars with the same type too), Maybe this is part of the uprated stereo spec too ? - These types of arial are common on modern cars in the UK and are colloquially known as Rats Tail Arials - Not sure were you go to find one suitable for your Boxer though ?

    Hope this helps,

    Steve

Steve, are you sure about the triangle box and speakers ? They are not listed as Ferrari options and have no part numbers at www.owners.ferrari.com nor in the Official Ferrari BB512i parts manual. I suspect they were added by a prior owner.

They are listed in the special options catalogue, which were dealler owned, I'll try and get a copy and scan it for you. They are definately original Ferrari options, not owner defined 'specials'. I have seen the Battery isolator switch on other examples, this is the first car I've seen with both options specified. Other options listed were:

    Engine Bay Painting (High Gloss)
    Engine Cam cover Painting
    Airbox Cover Colour Coding
    Airfoil Colour Coding
    Piped Leather/Coloured Inserts
    Some suspension Mods ?
    Larger Wheels ?

Last 2 are 'heresay' which I have never seen.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Tony,

This car is known to me, It's an ex-Alan Parker collection car, He bought it from His Majesty Prince Faisal Bin Fawaz of Saudi Arabia for £200k, in 1998.

It is a nice car, if a little over priced, should be £40k tops!
I think Verdi have done some servicing on it too ?
