I'm looking at a 99 TDF Blue 550... a tint of purple in the sun.. were there many made? It has creme/blue interior. Kinda nice...red is so nice on a 550...but I grew up with blue 240z's in the 70's...so I dont know if its a nostalgic thing or what...anybody have opinions on TDF Blue on a 550?
    thanks*

I think the 550/575 is better in any color but red. Blue is especially good. It should not hurt the resale value

Personally, I think that TDF and Tan is the very best color combo for a Maranello. You will never tire of looking at it.

This is coming from a guy who owns a Silver and Burgundry Maranello.

Bill, I notice that you are in San Diego. Are you dealing with Jim Lyons at the Sports Car Company? I talked at length when I was looking, and he seems to be a decent guy, for a used car dealer. :) Actually, Jim is one of the bigger Ferrari wholesale dealers in the country, or so I'm told. He should be able to tell you where he got the car and to trace what history exists.

However, on the PPI level, check the archives, but there are a number of things to check for, e.g., a wheel recall, dashboard leather, water hose under the plenum, actuator, engine mounts, the #$@!$ check engine light.

Actually, it is too bad that Maranelloman has left us to frequent porn sites :)

You could try to PM him if he is still on the member list. Mr. Doody is also an expert on 550s and just about everything else!

    Good Luck, Dale

Bill: I see you're still searching. I take it the good Doctor's car didn't make sense for you? Did you end up talking to Brad?

That is an amazing car!! I don't mind the red/tan combo on the 550, but I would have to agree that the blue/tan is far more pleasing to the eye.

Is that suede on the blue part of the seat?

All I know is that 550 is by far the best looking 550/575 I have seen yet. I really hope that this car ends up being sound on all levels.
Best of luck in your quest!

Bill, something is not adding up. If this is a non-US car, then the dealer must have the federalization paperwork, or so I would think. I can't imagine him being able to get you a title otherwise.

Plus, why would a ROTW (rest of the world in P-Car speak) come to the US when the Euro is so high? Perhaps, the UAE is dollar-dominated, I don't know. At any rate, you need to ask the dealer some very-pointed questions before forking over any money.

Given the number of US Maranellos on the market, even the FNA site lists 18 Maranellos for sale [http://www.ferrariusa.com/Welcome.html], I'd pass on this one unless the dealer is willing to dump it.

    Good Luck, Dale

Had discussion with friend who lived in the Middle East. Some great deals to be found Ferrari wise he told me. He also mentioned a lot of shady cars in the UAE.

The car went through the Vegas auction and was involved in a dispute, it also went through the riverside auction twice this month. Prior to that the car was in Utah a couple of years ago and then bounced around from dealer to auction to dealer to auction. It was also involved in a "slight" accident. It has been around the country a few times.

Thanks for the info, Sean. You have great reputation as a stand up guy. Well, for a car dealer anyway. :)

Hope you find the right car.

I'm with you though - That color scheme is fantastic! I saw a stradale with blue inserts the other week, it's just amazing.
