So, me and the boys are throwing a bachelor party for my friend who's getting married this Saturday (Orlando, FL).

After much debate, we realized that substance and memorable times matter most. The gang is composed largely of self-aware, non strip club types; in fact, we're a bunch of old-time "gamers" (computer/console games) since what, middle school!

So, in lieu of Plan 1, which was meaningless bar hopping, strip clubbing, and casino going (the latter might have been cool, admittedly), I've come up with a different plan, and it looks like we're going with this.

The plan: Rent out a BIG hotel suite for one night. Rent FOUR XBOX game consoles, link them up via ethernet hub so it's CRAZY mutliplayer stuff.

I'll also need to rent four video projectors (You know, like an InFocus or something) as well as four projection screens.

We'd have the requisite beer, wings, wine, booze, pizza, junk food, and music. I'm also thinking of getting a surprise stripper for the group :). Shh, that's a secret!

In general, it's a plan that focuses on people and substance, and avoids all of the hassles of designated drivers, etc. It's all about celebration and nothing about getting taken advantage of (financially) at a strip joint :).

    So:

    1. What does the gang here think of the plan?

    2. Are there places that will rent out Projection Screens and Projectors for a day/night (x 4)? How about game consoles? I know that Blockbuster Video and Hollywood video stopped renting out actual game hardware / console unit (though they still rent games)...

    Thanks guys,

    --Mike

Oh yeah. Any advice on how the heck I'd actually GO ABOUT getting a "come do your hotel room" stripper for a bunch of guys would be most appreciated.

And I *have* seen the movie "Very Bad Things," and with any luck, this will not turn out that way.

I'm very, very afraid of getting somebody horribly, horribly unattractive. This happened to recently at a party my soon-to-be-married friend was actually at, so it's a bit of an issue!

My bachelor party was in Vegas at The Spearmint Rhino. We just asked a couple of strippers there to go back to the hotel and strip there later.

Just go to your local strip club and ask one of the hotter girls there if she will do a bachelor party. Good luck only getting one though. They usually ask to be hired in pairs for safety reasons.

I can get you all the info you want on the screen and projector rentals. You just need to tell me what city you will be in so I can look in up in my address book.

Orlando, Florida; specifically, the Longwood, FL or Lake Mary, FL "outer" cities. Other OK cities in the area that I could pick stuff up at include Sanford, Casselberry, Oviedo, Winter Park, Winter Springs, and Maitland, FL. (Maitland is where Ferrari of Central Florida is, where I got my 308! :) )

    Thank you very much...

Frankly, it would probably be much easier to get a few working girls into your hotel room than 4 projectors, 4 screens, and a host of video equipment necessary to hook it up. Then, unless one of you party animals plans on playing A/V geek all night (yeah, i know, some of your boys might actually dig that), you'll have to hire the pimply-faced teenager to handle that. And, if you ask him what he wants, he'll tell you: get me a couple of nasty girls to do the do.
But, if you really insist, there must be a business AV rental outfit near you. At least i know of one in NY that does alot of stuff for business presentations, courtrooms, etc. and business folks, lawyers, etc. down your way must have the same needs. But, i'd bet if you ask them, they'd tell you the same thing: hire a couple of hookers.

    Regards.

I rent video projectors on the side, and I'd be happy to ship to you, but I'm down to one unit. They're not that hard to find for rentals, check your yellow pages.

I also agree with finding your stripper at a strip club.

Doh! I'd rather own a unique head-turner than leach off the Ferrari mystique through the ubiquitous 308. ;)

    Luke,

Ps, the Passat is SOLD. Had to beat the buyers off with a stick.

That's about the craziest statement I have ever heard !! Uh, yeh, a set of pimps-up, hoes down rims and a carbon fiber hood really "set you apart" in Decatur. And a Pasaat's a real "head turner" ...LOL ..."Leaching" off the Ferrari mystique ... uh....mmm....er.... NO. Care to cruise Decatur in my car and see how many heads turn? Bottom line, it's a Ferrari (308) and YOU don't have one.

OK, but does anyone need a "not-so-nice" girl? Hourly rates available. I want to but a 512TR. Name the movie: "..my hoes better have my money, through rain, sleet and snow..."

    Dream Cars,

Much appreciated. I talked with John at Abracadabra, and after some negotiation, we came up with a pretty nice package, in my price range.

The hotel, as it turns out, can offer the projectors for 2/3 the price of his, and it's a little more convenient, but there's more risk since I have doubts whether or not they'll actually be able to get the stuff on such short notice. John, on the other hand, has his stuff ready to go, which is nice. We're definitely covered.

So thanks again for the contact--it's appreciated.

BTW, I grew up in Orlando (6th grade through high school -- college at the University of Florida). Great city; I suppose I'll end up back there one day :).
