Personally, if they increase rear headroom, and upgraded the interior I would think this would be the PERFECT way to correct the lacking visuals of the 7er.

The truck issue is still there, but overall the car looks MUCH nicer then the current E65.

I'd rather buy an MB over a BMW if you consider style. It used to be different, but they sure bangled it up. Of course, I don't have to worry about that problem, there's something prettier, British, and I'm juiced in with the factory and dealer network :D

That actually wouldn't be the replacement for the 7 series. It's a 4 dour coupe 6 series designed to compete with the Mercedes CLS. It does look pretty good though.

Am I the only person that likes BMWs new styling direction?

I still have not figured out WTF the designers were smoking when they designed the back of the car to look like that. Why didnt they blend the trunk into the sides? BMW's are now some of the ugliest cars on the planet.

I know, I am just asking what people thought if they used it as the base for the replacement 7er.

actually I think it is perfect, except for one thing...

    everything on the exterior!

gawd, that is obnoxious and offensive looking. if some lady is going to sue about Janet Jackson's breast, I am going to sue Bangle for Bangling up BMW's!

First the styling goes out the window and now the paint department, what is next?

It is the lesser of two evils.

I forgot to mention, I haven't seen the interior yet. =D

nope, don't care for it at all. but wasn't going to post that I didn't like the I-drive when I couldn't confirm whether it was still in the new-to-be 7 series.

Some automotive journalist was saying that he did not understand why people did not like/ could not work I-Drive.

Of course, he had an hour to study it while waiting to leave the airport parking structure where pick it up.

I'm quite sure it is easily usable, once someone is familiar with it's ins and outs.

However, I think the problem with the i-drive is that it has a learning curve to it that might not be as intuitive as engineers might think. afterall, the engineers are doing the intuitive designs, right? not a layperson or someone shelling out 70K for the car.

Actually BMW salespeople go to a two day training event to learn to use the I-Drive properly. And then they are supposed to pass that knowledge on to their customers in 30 minutes. Yea, right!!!!!!!!!!!!

BMW of North America boght back over 700 745's in calendar year 2003 due to electronic gremlins that were not fixable to the clients satisfaction.

And a quote by the President of BMWAG "I do not understand the difficulty the Americans are saying they are having with the I-Drive. We have no plans to change it. They will have to learn to like it". Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about this for a "7" Series replacement?

When they design these things, do they consider that some ppl will have the car in the future, and may not want to maintain "Idrive" on a car with 150K+ miles? seems like a maintanence nightmare....Im still in love with the E39 M5 and the E38 7, shame they never did a performance V12 M7.
