If anyone wants to join , I'm organizing a Ferrarichat F1 league.

Before each race you guys have to predict who will qualify in the top 3 and who will finish on the podium after each race on sunday. You also have to pick who will get the fastest lap and which driver will finish last during the race etc.

So if anyone wants to join , you just have to register and then tell me whats your username over there and then I will invite you to join.

    By the way its free.

As I posted in my other thread, I'm just looking for the best software to use right now. This will be the 3rd year we've done it. I won first year and Tillman dominated this past year.

So did you not read my thread? Maybe you can call it the John F1 internet league.

Sorry Rob , I didn't really look at your thread except for now.

Anyway if you want it do it at F1 Tipping which I find is the best place just let me know. By the way did I tell you I won last year vs 15-20 people (other people than ferrarichat). :)

You created a new league? okay?

I think I will have to try to find a way to delete mine because no one is interested.

You can change the league name to anything you want, but please don't use the FerrariChat name. I spoke with John offline and it appears F1 Tipping is a good site to host our league. I have created a league for our 3rd annual FerrariChat.com contest.

    http://www.f1tipping.com/signup.php?league=304

    League Name: FerrariChat

    Past results...

    2002 Rob328GTS
    2003 Tillman

2004 end of season prize will be at least a FerrariChat.com polo shirt. Once we get the online store setup shortly I may add some other prizes.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks,
    rob

What the heck is a Quinella and a Trifecta?

Did anybody guess the number of finishers as higher than 20?

If it is the same as in Horse racing terms it is as follows:

Quinella = picking the 1st and 2nd place finishers in order.

Trifecta = picking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in order.

It has to be something different as the site already asks for the first three finishers in drivers and teams. I made my picks btw, which were consistent with what I've forecasted here on FChat all along...

    Cool, I just signed up!

Just to clear things up, do we get to pick whoever we want an unlimited amount of times? I hope not because I thought a lot of the skill from last year was trying to time picking out your best drivers. Otherwise some people might pick Schumy every race and end up with a lot of points. That doesn't take much skill at all.

Rob, how many people did we have last year? 28? 30?
Would be nice to get 50+ this year given the site's expansion!:)

That was cut and pasted from last year's site. I could not believe how well our league performed relative to everyone else. I only got 8th place in our league, but if you notice I was ranked 2800 out of 247194 participants! Just goes to show how well everyone else in our leage did. Fun Stuff!!!

:) - No, trust me, you already received your 3rd place prize. It was so cheap and easy. Actually didn't cost me a cent.

Maybe we'll have a second and thrid place prize this year, but I can't commit yet.

John, is someone allowed to pick Michael for 1st place every race?

Not that I think that's the best strategy, but as everyone else has said last year you were limited to 4 times per driver, so it brought in a little more skill.

By all means pls go ahead and pick MS on 1st for every race. That should help my strategy big time...

The reason I brought that up is in case we have another year like 2002 with Ferrari being overly dominant(not a bad thing;)). If that is the case this year, with whatever team or dirver, we could have everyone scoring within points of each other on the fantasy league. It would take some fun out of it if the scores do not follow a somewhat normal distribution.

    Then again...

What I do like with the new league are all the different ways you can score points. I love the idea of the trifecta and such, so I think that is a big plus!

When you guess 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, place perfectly(Big Points!)

Below is a distribution I made of last year's scores. I disregarded those participants who scored less than 200 points because they probably missed a few races. The mean is around 300, and as you can see it is very normal.

    I still don't get it:

First I have to pick the first three finishers. Then it asks me for the Trifecta. So what is the difference?

    And what is a Quinella?

For the top 3 finishers, you get points even if they don't finish in the spot you chose. For the Quinella (2 choices) or Trifecta (3 choices), you only get points if they finish in the exact order you picked.

So, If you had Sato, Button, Panis as your top 3, and the order was Panis, Sato, Button, you would still get points for choosing drivers who ended up in the top 3, but you wouldn't get bonus points for hitting the Trifecta
