    Under the UCMJ they can kick his ass to dirt.

    And they likely will. They/we take that stuff very seriously. To say the least, his time in the Navy is over. Well, the easy time that is.

    My good friend was a SEAL...never really talked about about it, save for the fact that he said all he did was train.

    He used to throw a lot of parties at his house, and some of them open. One fellow showed up complete with attitude and bud tattoo on his arm and claiming he was a SEAL.

    They were walking down the hall talking about past SEAL "exploits" when they came to Jeff's huge wooden bud hanging on the wall. The "SEAL" said, "Hey, nice Eagle!"

    Jeff was already on to him by then, but that was enough to ask him to leave.

    Some people.

    Oh man, I passed this on to a friend in Norfolk, and he is fighting mad.

    On the Seal thing, jeez there are what 1500 active Seals in the world and around 4000 retired. As if you could not 'spot the phoney' easily enough.

    On a side note it is not that Seals don't talk about their exploits, it is that they don't have personalities...

    Odd, I have known SEAL's for over ten years.

    I have always been told it DID mean See AiR Land.

    In fact, in Richard Marchinco's book, Rogue Warrior, that is what he says it means.

    In fact the DoD wed site gives me this;

    SEAL; a member of a Naval Special Warfare unit who is trained for unconventional warfare; "SEAL is an acronym for Sea Air and Land"
    Navy SEAL

    Like cops, judges, accountants, they live in their field, and are often out of social contact for so darn long that when they go back ti civvies they either drink too much and you find them passed out, or they just lack any form of a pulse. Like having fish.

    I think your generalizing there a bit.

    My dad was a SEAL, its true they don't talk much about their exploits, but to say they have no personalities is a bit uninformed. Some of the stories he has told are fascinating. My dad has enough medals to choke John Kerry, but he doesn't have them on display anywhere in his house, he keeps them in a drawer somewhere. Quiet professionals, indeed.
