Okay, just for fun, can anybody identify this unique 275 GTB (same car, different configurations)?

Hi Wayne. Could this be #9027? External filler cap means Competizione and of these only 9027 once was in german ownership. Or is this no D? Doesn't look like a german plate though.

    Andrew, correct!

Boudewijn, in the top photo the car is fitted with Canadian plates ("O" = Ontario?) "255 APL," taken during the 1980s while in the hands of Harry Bytzek of King City , Ontario. The bottom photo was taken in the 1970s and shows the car with California plates "530 SIY." It might have been owned by A.P.A. van der Velden of Tilburg, Netherlands at that time, although I don't know why he had the car on CA plates and I have one source that says that van der Velden had the car on Dutch plates "HH 02 BL" at one time as well.

By the way, there is a rumor that this car was once (originally?) owned by Omar Sharif. Does anybody know of information/docs that confirm this? Does anybody know who performed the targa-conversion or the later re-conversion?

Wayne - correct me if I am wrong (as I am sure 800 of your best friends surely will), but the first picture reveals an open top.

You're not wrong, hence my reference to the "targa-conversion" and later "re-conversion.":)

Sorry, but I am no sure.
My English is too poor to explain, but above the screenfield it's not similar, above the glasse so.
And the second haven't the Pinin Farina item, the first yes....

Gilles, yes the incorrect PF emblem was apparently added when the car was converted back to a solid roof. There were other changes made to the front bumpers and turn signals (both returned to original configuration) at that time as well, although they are obviously not visible in these photographs. Even so, most of the unique features remain, including the trick hidden door handles, louvered sail panels, flared fenders, comp fuel filler, and hood scoop (also not visible here).

Here are some photos of how 09657 looks today (pretty much the same as in the 1980s-vintage photo). These shots were taken at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, CA last August by Keith Bluemel, who was kind enough to share them with us F-Chatters.

How many 275 gtb have an outside filler cap? Also, how many 275 gtb/4 have an outside filler cap?

The descending rear roof vents on the 275 GTB where first conceptually designed as a decretive element on the last 375 Mille Miglia in 1955 by Pinin Farina. The vents where chrome on Plexiglas.

Hey Mark, this is an extremely old thread, but I'll see what I can come up with. If I recall correctly, Carbon and I inspected and photographed the car in person in Monterey in August, 2004 so I have those photos lying around somewhere as well.
