I seek information on the history of this Ferrari, chassis number etc... See here : http://www.alpimodel.com/mrc/mr158a.html Best regards.
This is chassis 37647, a 400i rebodied in the UK as a "modern GTO". I THINK it might have been done for Robert Horne, but that's strictly from (an unreliable) memory. It's an interesting alternative to creating another replica of a 250 GTO. This is the real car (photographer unknown): Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, that is really cool. Do you know if anybody is doing something similar? I have often thought that a 400 or 412 would make a great candidate for a slick rebody. DrTax
ANNOUNCING THE IMMATURE RETORT OF THE DAY Sure, I'll do stupid anytime! .... That's what your wife said......
I have a full article from "Classics and Sportcars" on this particular Ferrari. If you want I can sent you a copy. Joren REMANS
Hello I just asked a friend in the UK who sent me these infos: "That is Anthony Bamford's car. I think it was red for a very short time but it is dark blue now and was almost from new. You will find the story in Classic & Sportscar April 95". "The car is based a shortened 400i chassis and was conceived as a '65 GTO'. I believe it was designed by Chris Hampson (the then owner) and Chris Major, with the chassis frame work by Brian Wingfield (DRL Engineering) and the body by GP Metalcraft. The car in the mag was registered 4HP". "Hampson was not the owner as I thought then. The job was commissioned by Bamford and I think Hampson worked in his (i.e. the JCB) factory". Thanks to xx for these infos. Helmut [email protected]
