I've hit 135 MPH in my 328 a few times.
At redline in a 550, therefore somewhere around 200. This picture was taken on a different day with passenger somewhere in the U.S.A. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see my car isnt' the only one whose hood light comes on at high speed. Good ktnow (F550M). Here's the highest photographed. 7k rpm in 5th. --Dan (for any and all purposes...err..."this wasn't me!")
Sorry about that....It should have been the speed of a Ferrari....I wish I could have happrehended to that...but sometimesyou get carried away. Sorry: Staffan.
Drove 260km/160 miles/h in a F355 Spider with open roof. (Picture taken with a timerfunction camera)! Drove 235km/145 miles/h in a open F328 GTS. Drove only 200km/125/h miles in my own Fiat. Greets, Alex.
these pictures are good...real proof!! the fastest i haver been on the street: 186 mph indicated in my andial 930. i had to get my speedo re-cal done by palo alto as the car would rip by 170 indicated on the stock guage. fastest ever on track: 182 mph at daytona on a 750 superbike when i did formula usa weekend in 1997. that was with radar gun clocking @ the start/finish sunny g. you should ride w/ me at the next ferrari meet...i will have had the k-29 turbo installed by that time!
Hey Peter, think you could take me for a quick spin around the block at the next event as well? Ive heard so much about 930s that Id love to feel what its like when the turbos kick in I dont think Ive been in a turbocharged car yet!
Yes, it was totally flat out on a long wide straight here in sweden. I was on my way home after I have driven the Footwork Arrows Formula 1 car at Scandinavian raceway Anderstorp, also at approx 270 km/h. I was going at 260-270 km/h in the 328 for a couple of minutes. It showed 270 km/h on the speedometer but the car would go only 263 km/h according to the spec. However, I do know that the speedometer show 100 km/h when the actual speed is 98 km/h with my Yoko AVS Sport 225/50-16 / 245/45-16. If that is linear the actual speed should be 264.6 km/h. My 328 has been lowered about 1" and it has Ohlins shocks. The cams and valve clearence have been adjusted to spec. I have also replaced the air filter with a three layer foam filter, nothing else. Ciao Peter
Well it's only 120mph but thats where the gov was cutting me off at. Plus it was a 1990 Honda Accord Didn't get a pic in my Prelude but I got it to right at 140 and backed off because I was worried about the speed rating on the cheap tires.
I came up on and passed a 'vette on Alligator Alley at 155mph in my 512TR. He caught up with us at the rest stop down the road and said "I can't believe I was doing 135 and you flashed me to move over..." I told him I was still in 4th gear...
Well.... I've seen a shade over 200 in an F40 180 in a TR 175 in a 348 150 in a 308QV 145 in a Mondial t Ciao Dino
The Dino, which hadn't run in two plus years when I bought it, has yet to be started with me in the driver's seat, so, ZERO is as fast as I've ever gone in my Dino. But come April, I'll get her going. Other stuff 911 130+ (kind of young and stupid) 530i 100+ (older, but still stupid) 240Z 127 on the NY thruway on the way to Watkins Glen (really young and stupider still) I've decided that speed is for the track, not for the road. It's not what you're capable of that is the limiting factor here, it's what all of the guys on the road around you are capable of, and that's mostly no good. So, off to Pocono for Porsche track days from now on.
I did 140mph once in my 348, with plenty of peddle left. Ran out of straight road. 130 mph a few times, and hit 120mph several times. It gets there so easy. About 120mph a few times in my Integra.
Not my fastest, but not bad for a brand new Mini Cooper S with 200 miles on the odometer. The second one isn't the fastest either, but not bad for a two lane truck road (look closely). OK, time to be villified by all the "responbile" Fchatters.
My "79 308 GTB, 6700 RPM in 5Th (US Spec speedo only goes to 85) & My 2003 350Z, 147 MPH indicated on the alternate dash pod guage. Both stable at speed, no big deal. It's lots of fun to go fast, just don't get caught! I got nipped for 103 in a 55 once. What a nightmare, you would've thought I mooned the Pope!.
Crap. My employee took my beast to 140 mph for a few miles on I-5 in the Great Valley. Wow. That is like the fun zone in Balbao. Opps, a slow 360. I think I will pass one at top speed. Bad Bart. I should feel good about a slow car like the 360. Ha-ha!!!
A page or so back, there are two 550 posts. In the second picture, it looks like the steering wheel has bubbles in the material. Is this a common thing. I havent seen this before, and for 250,000 I hope it is a rarity. Ted
It isn't safe here in PA to really wring her out on the main roads, however their is a fenced & divided stretch on I83 that when empty, I have reved her threw 4th gear which with my added rev limit of 7600 rpms is a bit over 142mph and then in a few hundred yards hit about 165mph in 5th before hard braking into corner. In 5th my 94 512TR is still pulling hard and far from red line, she is smooth as silk at speed. You just have to keep on the gas and hard brake at the same time in fast corners, or like my older 911 will spin out like a top. This is not how I drive my Ferrari on a weekly basis, it's not safe or smart as a rule of thumb! I have my blown 500 ci Pro Mod-race car for 200mph+ safe rush on week ends at the race track.Enjoy your rides!
