Did you know there is a brand new Mclaren F1 for sale from the Mclaren factory. The 64th road car made (which is chassis #65) and has delivery miles only. It sat in the Mclaren showroom window in London for years. I saw it when I was there with my wife on our honeymoon a few years ago, it is silver. Mclaren is asking one million pounds.
    Man............

This is the photo from Autoweek where I read the story

Could you imagine getting a F1 and having to break the engine in. Man I bet that thing screams, no ragged outness at all, its a virgin F1 just waiting to be popped.

$1 Million pounds at todays exchange rates to about $1.89 Million actually.

Great article about this specific car in Autoweek. Chris the car gets broken in by the McLaren Engineers prior to sale.

As far as i know that car isn't for sale as it isn't even a runner. It's simply a shell with all internals missing as there is no need to have a fully working car on display.

Roughly one F1 comes on sale a year. The coolest thing is the factory will take any car and respray and do the interior to the new owner's choice so its like buying a brand new car :)

If it's an actual car and not just a shell, how could they justify letting it sit there for so long...? Who would want to spend that much money on a "garage queen"...?

Yes it is a working model. Its chassis #065. I've seen the plaque and was one of the first to post which one it was. It has been started in the dealer (so i hear). Its also for sale in the latest Robb Report.

XP5 is in there for now

that would be the most obvious choice. Although tag stereo (who own the showroom) are having financial troubles so who knows.

    In 2003 they replaced 65 with XP5—the record-breaking version that achieved 240.1 mph on March 31, 1998.
The showroom is barely large enough to hold one car and a desk.

The question is, if you were to buy it, at this point would it be a show car or a driver? I'd want to drive it of course.

Right, and if you do, then it becomes no more valuable than any of the other F1 roadcars--making the premium on this car pointless. If you keep it in glass-enclosed display, then you might as well get a replica made for a tenth of the price.

At that price you would lose even if you sat on it. The latest I have seen crossed the Christies block at 961k. Around 10k miles or may have been 10k kms.

You would think that their are enough money is no object people out there that this car would be gone by now. Even 1.89mil is chump change to many collectors so now that it is getting more pub I would bet it won't be available for much longer. Hope it get used soon!

Ross, you saw a green car or a silver one on display? The green car is XP5, and it is not for sale. There are two silver cars for sale with just delivery miles, actually..., the other one is in Boston.
