Just couldn't stand the low key look of my 1/18 275 GTB from Ertl. So I decided to give it a make over. Took it all apart to paint it. The rear window is though to get out and while doing so I cracked it, so I had to replace it with a self made one.

The model comes easily apart, has several different screws though, so make sure you lay them out like the car while taking them out.

I redid the interior. The real 275 GTBs had several different interiors and the Ertl one was not wrong per se, just a bit bland all in black.

I also repainted the engine, those colors were all wrong in the original. Also replaced the tires with tires from a Bburago 1/18 250 GTO. They're a tad too big, whereas the Ertl tires were a bit too small. But at least it looks better IMHO.

After repainting in rosso corsa I had to reassemble all. Not that difficult really. You guys like it?

The 275 is one I've been hunting for a long time. Can't seem to find it anywhere, and when I have seen it, it is expensive.

Looks terrific!!! Excellent work - can really see the care and thought put into the upgrade.

Something I am looking for that you may also be interested in is that some aftermarket company makes really nice 1/18 wire wheels. I am planning on re-fitting several of my Bburagos.
    Anyone have a source?

Thanks all for the nice words.

I made the windshield out of the clear plastic window from the boxes the 1/18 cars come in. Just cut it to size and glued it in place on the inside. That plastic is thin enough to take the shape it needs to.

F355guy, no I used rattle can.

    Looks very nice Andreas
I've just began my own x3m makeover with a F50 Spider - think this one is gonna be pretty cool.
New colour which I've never seen on a F50 (or Ferrari)
I'll post pix when its done.
    PS:dont wait up :)
