Dave very nice shots. Looking at this stuff makes me wish I would have stopped playing with my new wide angle and brought out the long lens

    What a talent you have.

Have you thought about displaying your Ferrari photo works in the gallery??

There are a bunch of galleries on market street in downtown Kirkland and I bet they will be able to rent the space to you and have the items promoted for sale.

Ferrari nuts like me will be a good customer there :) :)

Something to think about for side job??

As he posted it on his photos, it is Nikon D70 digital and I think he was using 35-70 mm standard Nikkor lens

Best Pictures I've seen! I felt like I was there. Does Dave do Weddings, Family Portraits? LOL. His dramatic use of depth of field and shutter speed is awesome. I can't wait till he takes a picture of the other black tan 355 Spider!

Thanks all. In high school I used to be a serious photographer (i.e. paid... weddings, sports, local newspapers, wire setrvices, stock art, etc.).

Haven't really done much with it for 10 years.

Equipment used in total this weekend:
    1 Nikon D70
    1 Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF lens that I got with the D70
    1 Nikon 180mm f/2.8 AF that I've had for 10+ years
    1 Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF that I've had for 10+ years
1 IBM 1GB microdrive CF type 2 card

It was just nice to have dept of field as an option again now that I have a digital SLR that can accept my old lenses. All the rest of my lenses are truely old school (i.e. manual focus... would get 0 camera assist including metering... I've got a hand held meter but stuck to the three listed above to ensure quick shooting).

I love the long lenses for candids and ability to have near zero depth of field. Makes for really nice candids you just can't get when you're up close to someone.

Thanks again. I like to see everyone elses shots as well. That's what is fun for me.

Dave a serious word of warning on the Micro drive. I've been on more than one job were these have failed! When it's time to get more card I would really recomend spending the extra $ and getting solid state CF cards. you can find fast 1 gig card for aroud $200.

yeah, yeah - I know - it's just I've had it sitting around for 5 years and my SanDisk Extreme Ultra II cards (60x+, solid state 1gb) are backordered from J&R, B&H and eCost. so I used what I had sitting around and got it off the card in the hotel both nights. :)

NIKON is the best casual camera.

I have been using D100 in the past 2 years now and recently purchased 17-55 mm f/2.8 AF G DX. It is the best of the best for zoom macro (over 17-35 mm)

Nice job, Dave! I'm also a serious photographer too so from one fellow photographer to another, I salute you. Your photos turned out great!

One question for you, some of the photos you took has a LOT of digital noise. Did you push up your ISO? My D1 doesn't have nearly as much noise. I'd recommend getting the free noise filter from Helicon to maybe help reduce that.

I also mirror Brian's sentiments about the microdrives. My 340 GB MD which I'd had for years finally quit on me with a click-click sound. Fortunately I had managed to get all the pictures off the MD before it went South. Now I'm using the new SanDisk Ultra II 1 gb CF drive with great results! I love this card and I think you will too. I bought mine from B&H Photo&Video for $219. Did you manage to find it for a better price from those other places?

My regret is that I didn't have time to go up on this drive nor the Italian show the following day. :(

I'll probably go to the Historics on Saturday - but I need to buy a ticket - Spasso bailed me out last year. Maybe - I can get one out there. We need to have Ted Wight - I'm also on the Olympic drive.

Well, I look forward to meeting you. Im sure you can buy at the gate, you just cant get into the corral. I just got my tickets yesterday so you may still be able to send an email to Bill and get a check to him to get in the corral.

I do have a ticket for Friday if anyone is interested. I can't make it but bought the 3-day anyway. Let me know if anyone would like it.
