I believe it entirely depends upon how you drive each.

HOWEVER, because it takes effort to really abuse a manual clutch (you have to spend a lot of time holding the clutch pedal not quite in and not quite out), left leg strain helps inhibit bad behavior. In contrast, the F1 handles that burden for you... so, a driver can more easily do things that are horribly abusive without knowing. Especially if they are a former slushbox driver.

For example, pulling your car onto a trailer or slowly into a parking spot on a hill. With a manual, its painful to keep feathering the clutch so as to creep your way into the spot or onto the trailer. So, you generally start slowly to check alignment, but then go ahead and release the clutch which results in you pulling in/on pretty quickly and then braking hard.

In contrast, with the F1, the driver is more tempted to ease into the spot since all the heavy lifting is done by the F1 hydraulics. Of course, doing so means you are baking your poor clutch.

Personally, I think that's the primary cause of premature wear on F1 clutches... drivers not realizing what the heck they are doing.

So you're saying people are abusing the F1 because the think its like an automatic more than a manual?

Yes, essentially. Some because they've never driven a manual; some because they haven't stopped to think about what it must be doing given that its really a clutch underneath; some because they never worry about the clutch in either manual or F1, but the left leg effort with a manual was just a natural deterrent to abusive behavior.
