What a great group! It was a pleasure meeting Melody, Ryan, Gabe and Kristen! The drive was awesome and very spirited! I got a kick out of seeing how many times I could get my passenger (kristen) to work the imaginary brake and emergency pull handle, the count got up to six and four squeals. Some nice speeds were achieved and the views were...well...if you haven't been to Yosemite you should go! It's a magical place that puts you in your place. It's almost hard to believe that something like this exists, I love it. We had lunch at the Lodge. Ihad never been there before as my previous many trips to Yosemite were during my top-ramen phase and radio-less Nissan. I want to thank Peter and sportcrystal for lunch, awesome! Best burger in Yosemite was indeed found! Peter, your 308 looks awesome and was well worth the wait, i have never seen one as nice! Ferrari chat tip #45: when you are tired of driving, fake a low fuel light (I'm not sure those damn things really work anyway), park car and hop a ride in Ben's ultra smooth 750, and take a nap on the way to glacier point. Works everytime! Once refreshed get a ride back to your car in same 750 and make sure that you tell everyone you need to stop at the nearest gas station, this really makes it believable. Favorite line of the day: Ben "I want everyone to notice that the guys in the Ferraris have the hot chicks with them!" lol It was a pleasure meeting everybody, and I'm always impressed by the level of enthusiasm. I hope to see ryan (who wins the award for most technology dedicated to avoiding tickets ever to be seen in one car) and gabe (working on a 360) on many more outings. Here are some pics. I also have a cool vid of some tunnel running with the 355 that I will have to email to Ben to post on his server, Ben pm me you email, or it'll have to wait till mon. when I get back work. Bill, In case you're reading 486 miles round trip...ouch!
Glad you got to make the trip - if you saw Bigfoot in Yosemite - link is the site & thread to report it on. http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=5592 Did you pass Bass Lake on way?
3rd result on Google http://www.google.com/search?q=bigfoot+yosemite&sourceid=opera&num=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 I sleep only when I'm dead tired - a fair compromise to mindset of "I'll sleep when I'm dead." Used to spend a few weeks in Bass Lake annually. In fact, we were there when the Hells Angels made their trip... but enough about me - Yosemite must be experienced. Glad to see you guys get it.
This was a great trip! More should have joined in the fun. Meeting everyone was just as I expected, more fine FChat members to add to my list that I looked forward to getting together real soon with!
Abolutely! I had a great time and meeting everyone made the experience that much more enjoyable! Ahaa! So that's what happened! *LOL*
What a great drive! and a great group to do it with at that. Thanks for setting all of this up Pete and thanks again for lunch. Hearing Vince's 355 in the tunnels was awsome, I look forward to see that video clip. The scenery in yosemite is breath-taking. Its something everyone should see. It was great to have meet all of you and I look forward to doing another drive with you again. I agree with Ben and we should make this an annual drive. Vincent, Holy smokes, I put that many miles on my work Van this weekend too. Maybe after the BBQ in Colorado you should swing up here for a while,( its only another 800 miles) I could put you to work for as long as you can stay. You can even take a trip to Vietnam with me if you have time!!! I envy you for having so much freeking fun. Bill
Man those are awesome pics. I lived in Cal all my life and still haven't been to yosemite. Hopefully this fall though
Okay, I'm convinced... either coming into or leaving from Monterey, I'm going through Yosemite. Tell me... is Yosemite better at noon, late evening, or very early in the morning?
the best times at Yosemite are not very early nor very late, as the sun gets too low to light everything up. Midday is not as grandiose as early or late though. Evening is better as the face of Half Dome is lit up. Whatever time you come through, you won't regret the detour. You're going to love the sound of the 360 through the tunnels.
I hope the event takes place again next year. I had to work that weekend, but would love to meet everyone in such a beautiful place. Looks like it was a fantastic trip to one of my favorite areas. steve
Thanks for posting the pics.........I'm going to be in Yosemite in october. I have never been there, but now its really peaked my interest.
Yosemite was one of the highlights of my trip as well..Pictures CANNOT capture the magnificence of the experience... And of course if you "have a Ferrari and a hot chick", well so much the better, lol! you guys must have done the loop, as my route "straight thru" missed Half Dome.. Thanks for those great pics from the Nor Cal gang! I have a coyote coat, don't tell that puppy!.........
In-car video of Vincent's F355 in one of Yosemite's tunnels! http://www.dreamns.com/stuff/vincent.avi http://www.dreamns.com/stuff/vincent.mov <-audio normalised.
Sounds like you all had a great time! I really envy you guys....I go to Yosemite about twice a year, but never in a Ferrari!
Ben..Can you please email me the video file at [email protected] please. I can't DL it off the link. Peter
