i hate this program so much, it's not even funny...

Seems as though some "thing" downloaded itself onto my computer... It's some Casino site... The problem is, i tracked it down and tried to delete and it WON'T LET ME...!!!

It pops up about every 10-15 minutes and opens itself up three times, each time... It's the most annoying thing i've encountered from IE in a while... Anyone have any idea how i can get rid of this internet case of herpes...?

i downloaded Adaware from Lavasoft, but to no avail... Ran a scan, picked up some things, quarantined 'em, but no dice... This little bastard is STUCK in my machine and is doing its best to piss me off... Any help would really be appreciated... Thank you...

Did you update the files from lavasoft before running the Ad-aware program? Usually if the spyware is new it takes them a couple of hours to update the definitions.

The reason you can't delete the program is because it's running, you need to disable it first and then delete it.

If it's Casino.net then these instructions may help you get rid of it
    http://www.spysweeper.com/uninstall-casino-net.html

What version of WinBlows are you running? If it's XP then you can run msconfig and stop it from loading at startup then reboot and delete it.

Carbon a buddy for mine just had this same problem. this is a major spyware program that was created by a thrid party and linked with the stupid casino thing. It was created by an atin spyware company and one of the only things that will get rid of it is this companies software. None of the usuall spyware/ adware programs will find the program. I'll try to get some more info on how it get rid of it.

Try FireFox on the same link, it's a cut down version of Mozilla, without all the mail clients/other bits. It's very good.

Spybot is great (and free). You should do two things:

    1) R.Click on the explorer Icon and delete Temp Internet, History and Cookies.

    2) Go to Disk Cleanup in accessories. Click on accessories + System Tools+ Disk Cleanup and let it run.

The above two may do the trick, but load spybot.

Get your computer reinstalled (just keep what you need) and then get rid of Explorer and D/L Mozilla Firefox. I have not got ONE pop-up from the day i have had it (about 3 months now). Works great! Here is the link : http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

There are quite a few different browsers out there. Even though I currently use IE, I've also used Opera in the past and it's great. Smaller and faster. Some pages might not 'look' exactly the same as with IE or Netscape, but close enough.

Everyone else here is right. I use Spybot and Ad-aware, and I also clean out all my cookies, temporary internat files, and history on a regular basis...

Ok, not only have i ridden my system of cookies, temporary internet files, history, etcetera, but i also tried deleting IE altogether; i tried searching for the file that this casino site seems to be named on my computer, IEXPLORE.EXE, but to no avail... Everytime it pops up, it also plants a 'sexdial' icon on my desktop... i tried to mess that up, but that was futile too... i right-clicked on it, went to properties, tried to turn it into a read only or an archive, i tried to change its name, i tried to change the web address it opens up to, all for naught... i tried doing the same thing with the IEXPLORE IE icon i found hidden in a folder... It wouldn't let me delete it, then i finally screwed something up in it that it WOULD let me delete and it would literally put it in the recycle bin, only to watch it reappear with my very own eyes, back in the same folder, from which i'd just, seconds prior, eliminated it from...

    WTF...?

i downloaded, spybot, adaware, spy sweep, spy assassin & mozilla, but all to no avail... i don't know how to do the msconfig thing, but i AM running XP Pro... i DID restart the machine a little while ago and now when the casino site pops up, it only pops up once instead of three times... Keep in mind, i'm not using IE at all... i'm running AOHELL and this thing is popping up out of nowhere, of its own accord...

    WinBlows... LMAO...

Another thought. A lot of sites make money from the hits they recieve, so they plant MalWare to redirect your computer to that site. The sexdial icon makes me think that. Try this CWShredder file:

    http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm#Coolwebsearch

If it works, you owe me a Diet Coke in Monterey.

carbon what your machine has been hijeacked my the casinopolooza

Here is a google link for the solution.

    http://www.computercops.us/postp221469.html

I've also included and email from my IT friend who has successfully removed this spyware

You can do a search for casinopalazo or however it is spelled and get tons of stuff. I told robbie to 1. Reboot in Safemode, run his virus scan make sure it doesn't pick anything up. Then run Spybot and Ad-Aware both freem on c-net and fix anything that seems out of place there. Note that Ad-Aware and Spybot will kill kazaa...
...and other add dependent programs. Then I had him download a program called hijackthis run it, then you or somebody computer literate needs to go through the log file it generates and look at the properties for any files you don't recognize and see if they are made by a known company or not. If they aren't nuke them, also look a the log and determine what services running shouldn't be...
... kill the quiktime and real player tray update programs as they may be being used to piggy back the add stuff ontop of. Look at the IE proxy settings see that they aren't setup, unless they are set to point to some unkown server unless he was told to do so from his ISP.
It is a damn witch hunt with this thing but doing all the stuff above seems to have fixed robbies machine. Also do the normal check the run key in the registry and the startup folder make sure nothing unusual is starting up from there.

    Hopw this helps

    Right-Click the Icon
    Select: Properties

    This will open a Pop-Up:
Select Shortcut (Tab) > Find Target (Button)

    This will open a Window:
Delete the Targeted Program from within the Folder.

Take note of the Folder name and when it was created, as it is the "Host" - quite useful information if it turns out the Program gets reborn from the Host. Do not delete the "Host" folder until you know exactly what other programs are in the folder. After all, the "Host" may have be something which simply got invaded by the offending Program(s). This is simply to make sure you're not doing more harm than good.

Don't forget to delete the offending Program from the Recycle Bin!

If this doesn't work - I've got a couple of other series of steps. Very simple, non-intrusive.

OK here is what you need to do:

click Start -> All programs -> Accesories -> System Tools -> Click on System Restore

In that program you can choose to restore your computer to an earlier time. This will not affect any documents, emails etc. you may have worked upon. It simply restores your computer to an earlier point before this malicious spyware downloaded on your computer. Do what the program tells you, it is pretty user friendly stuff.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU RESTORE IT TO A DATE PREVIOUS TO THE INFECTION!!

Start ->Run-> Type in MSCONFIG press <enter>
Youll get the something like the attached screen popping up. Select the Startup tab and go to http://www.windowsstartup.com/wso/search.php and check out what they all are, disable all those that are suspect.

Everybody should so this once in a while if only to speed up your start up and get rid of the crap that software installs put there that doesn't need to be there.

<rant>I've been a systems programmer for most of the last 30 years, mainly writing operating system extensions and utilities and lately doing communictions/security consulting. In that time I've seen bloatware develop to a point where it overloads what is a basically good operating system, programmers have a blinkered mindset that doesn't see that their software has to get along with other applications running on the same machine and only do limited testing, and do virtually no performance/load testing, the result is everyone bags the OS for what is really and applications problem. The Windows architecture isn't as bad as people make out, the problem is that it is too popular and too many crap programmers who should never have left employment with McDonalds are writing software for it.

As for the mindset that says Windows/IE/Outlook is a security nightmare and brand X is better, keep it to yourself otherwise, if your favourite product becomes popular, it will be a target for hackers. If I was going to write a worm/virus etc why would I target a product that has less than 10% market penetration which is what the non-Microsoft players have combined, on their own most barely get above 1% market share. Poor return for all that effort, much better to target something popular and spread your mayhem to that largest possible audience.</rant>

Fivebob, I see nothing in that list of all those things checked that are necessary! :D

Might be program dependent, that's one of the few reasons I dislike HP. I install one printer and I have another 20 programs.
