Great, I'm a "classic" curmudgeon.
It's a blast reading all the reactions to the age classifications. Especially from fellow Classics. Rob, I don't know about ratings. I think I'd have a hard time rating someone. This idea wasn't ment to put anyone down or create more animosity. Just the opposite....... So technically can this be done?
My point exactly.... I had a group of 9 -12 yr old boys and girls come over to my driveway when I drove home today. I was happy to talk to them and answer questions etc.. Hell, I welcome the future F drivers, but I definitely talk to them differently then I would a drinking buddy downing Louis XIII at the Crillion. It's a cool idea about the picture, shirt, etc.... I was thinking about purchasing Ferrari hats to give out to little kids who wave and say hi when I'm driving around.
I don't like it. You would be supprised what my age is considering how much I *try* to help out, how long I have been on the site and how long I have had my fcar. Age has no relation to quality of posts or help. You can have 50 year olds with no idea what they are talking about, and 18 year olds who know how to fix your annoying problems.
Doesnt really matter either way to me. I like the idea, but if it didnt go thru, it wouldnt effect me either. Im 18 by the way.
well it looks like zupra stays up late! Rob, you did not know he was 12??LOL YOU get to explain the 'Post Where" thing then....he is taking great delight in running up his count...with some help.... Why I remember when the young lad hit 100...but you check the Speedy308 Thread (aka "Cafe Zupra" now), nuthin' but groovy positive vibes, for the most part, may break a new FChat record! For harmony! Don't worry, I'm sending the "package" after clearing it with Moderator Mom over there. Speedy308 for President "A bad Fcar influence on the youth of America....."
I am neither pre-production or vintage but really don"t see the point of what ages we are, besides it is easy enough to lie,and just how many people have filled in their ages on their profile anyway. Dave Mc
Knowing someones age can come in handy like the Zupra situation. I shouldn't bust his balls expecting a 12 year old to act like a 40 year old. However, I'm still going to bust the balls of 40 year olds that act like a 12 year old. For 99% of the time age should have nothing to do with our community. Someone should just be respected how they represent themselves here. The 1% would be the kids like Zupra or the Old Farts that require a little more patience as the internet age smacked them in the face whether they wanted it or not. I'm pretty good at picking those out now vs. those that just need a can of whoop ass.
I think zupras doing fine, only one or two Fchat members were caught out with a few comments, and the moderators were helpful fixing it up..... Read that BRUCE thread with Buttuz4evr, it's a laugh riot, where zupra meets BRUCE, who impersonates "Too Much Coffee Man".....it all ended with everybody friends. we'll jus' keep SpeedyChat down there, next to the Bikini Thread! LOL.... sounds cozy enough, for me........
Definitely Vintage here, car and owner, don't care one way or another about announcing it. If you want Trolls, try any "shooter" PC game forum. You'll see more in the first 10 posts than you will in six months on ferrarichat.
Well, I'm glad to see all the positive posts because the idea was thought of with good intentions. I understand that people could just lie but I don't understand the logic in it. The amount of people that have been honest in this thread should be a good representation. Further, I think most everyone here values the board and the people on the board so who cares if there are a few dishonest ones? Rob, you still haven't answered. Is this even possible with your software? --- I just got upto sunny Clarkston MI for the weekend and I haven't seen any Ferraris yet...
lol..it would be interesting to see how many people are in each category. I myself am only 14 "pre-production" but I have no problem talking to somone 3 times my age. When you really think about it they are still only people, but they have been arond longer so they deserve more respect! I have found that eveyone I have talked to has treated me no different even after they found out my age. Sometimes it is kind of embarassing being only 14 on a forum filled with people older than you...like this wednsday I am going to attend a local Ferrari track day, I will be meeting a bunch of the guys from the forum and they get to meet me AND my mom..lol. In that case it can be kind of embarassing, but I figure that one of the best ways to get further educated in life is to talk to people older then you, simply because they know more! Just thought that I would add my experiences in here. Great thread! Lucas
I deal w/ the exact same thing, the track day, everything! When I went to my first track day I was really nervous, you know who some people are but you dont know what to say to them. I ended getting the courage to talk to Roland Linder, who was really nice and I am glad I did, Also, member Brandi L gave me a ride in a yellow 360, so if you step up and talk to them, some great things may come of it. It is pretty weird being on a fourm w/ a bunch of older people, that many also happen to be Ferrari owners. Most people here are really nice about everything and like to see younger people here, who already share the same passion as them.
