Forgive me if this has come up before, but I think it would be very useful to have a "stealth mode" option. ie. when checked, the red logo does not appear at the top, and perhaps avatars and pictures can be supressed.

Yesterday the boss walked in on me when I had just loaded a Fchat page, and commented that he is considering blocking the site via our cybernanny software. He'd already blocked Ebay, and that is bad enough, but if he blocks Fchat, it'll be a little like loosing an limb!

This can be done and is on the long list. It would be like selecting the various color options from the bottom drop down.

    Actually, it's easily done.

    Go download Mozilla Firefox 0.9

When you first go to Fchat in that browser, right-click on the Ferrarichat logo and select "block images from ferrarichat.com". This will hide the banners and logo, but will not affect images in the posts.

Then go to the control panel and under options turn off avatars and signatures.

Next, set the color scheme to default, which is a blue/grey combo.

You're done. It looks like this:

Alternatively, you could use Lynx and read text-mode.

Ok, try the new "Stealth" mode in the bottom left Style Chooser.

Give me your feedback. Maybe it should be a subscriber feature? It does remove the commercial sponsor banners, so maybe users should have to pony up to remove that.

    Thanks,
    rob

I definetly think stealth mode should be a paid for feature.

If it removes the sponsor's banners, surely it makes sense to make it a subscriber only feature. Otherwise, what do sponsors gain if anyone can remove their advertising with the click of a button?

There's not a way I can choose custom styles available for certain usergroups yet. Hopefully we can do that in the future. I've taken away the stealth mode for now. For those that selected the stealth mode, do you still see it or did it go back to the default grey?

    Thanks,
    rob

I love how people complain while there at work that this site is to easily "seen". I dont see that as FerrariChats problem. If your at work not doing work then use at your own risk. To ask Rob to change it just so you dont get caught next time to me is rather obnoxious. Of course it seems a solution is in the making but still, it does not seem to work well.

I kinda agree, however, I am in touch with my customers and to be honest, during work hours is when this site gets 75% of the traffic.

That's inhumane and dispicable! Tell the turd that if he blocks F-Chat you'll file a sexual harrasment complaint against him and tell all the secretaries that he is a founding member of NAMBLA.

I'm not saying it's FerrariChat's problem, but is not FerrariChat a community, and shouldn't the governance of that community be representative of the needs of that community?

If it is not possible for Rob to practically achieve at an operational level, or, as has been suggested, it's at odds with the sponsorship arrangement, then message received and understood, but to label my suggestion "obnoxious" is a little strong; after all, it was just a suggestion.

He's not that bad. It's more a case of blocking it so as to not show favouritism as we are bosom buddies outside of work.....

Do like my employees do and get that phony spreadsheet program. When they hear me coming they just have to click a button and voila, the website disappears and a spreadsheet pops up. Fools me every time! :)
