The new M5 be here soon. In the meantime check out this article to get more info:

What does eveyone think about the styling? I think the M5's styling is its only downfall but that is a pretty big deal. I bet the M5 will cost north of $80K. It will be interesting to see how Maserati's new Quattroporte compares with the M5. The M5 will be faster but will it be as fun to drive as the Quattroporte?

With over 500HP, the M5 is meaning some serious business! These HP wars are great.

I have a 2000 M5 and have my name on a new one. But, I am a little concerned about the new Bangle-butt too. And, I have heard rumors that SMG will be the onlt tranny offered...I find it hard to believe that BMW won't offer a standard stick too though. I will wait to see a few in person before I decide if I will take th eone I would get.

    Exterior styling is unfortunate.

    Interior is great.

    Now that's really ugly.

Why would you choose it over an AMG mercedes?

I owned one of the original M3's and have nothing but good things to add to BMW and M-Power,

But their "modern" styling really sucks.

Styling is unfortunate as many have said already, but with v10, 500hp, and hopefully a stick, this will be the sporty 4 door to have IMO.

Its like a girl with a great body, nice rack, and behind, and an animal in bed, but not the greatest of face. I think I can live with that. ;)

Porsche is going to eat BMW alive with the rumored new line next year...

as long as it's priced smart.

Whaaa? Porsche makes sports cars and a SUV. BMW makes sedans and two SUVs. Why will Porche be eating into BMW?

Am I the only one that likes the way it looks? I like this modern look to their cars. No cars on the road look like BMWs. Its product identity.
The design is very clean looking to me- very fresh. However I dont like the way the standard 5 series looks. This has more vents and doo dads on it that make it look pretty damn cool.

Why are all of you giving me funny looks?

As for the M5, I like the styling from the front, Just wish they would get rid of the eyebrows. But the back is horrible.

Speaking of possible errors, the article further states:
"BMW claims the new M5 can lap the Nürburgring, where much of its development was done, in 8 minutes, 25 seconds less than the outgoing M5."

    Should be @ 2 minutes, shouldn't it?

Article also states it will do 205 sans chip.

Should be interesting in the wrong hands.

More comprehensive look - 7-Speed and a bunch more data about mechanicals, no speeds listed.

In almost every racing series there came a time when elctronic gizmos and wizardry got to the point of absurdidty.

The new m5 is the road going equivalent.

To much **** to break that nobody needs and vast majority don't want.

Exactly what I was thinking, nice job however!

There might not be a stick, it'll most likely be SMGII (or is it III) only but as far as we know right now, it's all just speculation until the car actually comes out so we can touch, massage, and hit it with a bat.

I think it has about the same amount of torque as the E39*M5. Significantly less amount of torque then the E55*W211. Gearing better be right on this car.

They've had some two years + on the Mercedes, it better be quite fast AND faster then the E55!

The old Nurbrurgring (also called Nordschleife) is very long. Hundred something curves!!! 8 minutes and half is very good.

Ugly as crap. I love the 6, but hate this one. 500hp or not.
