I am sure this has been done a million times, but, which is faster in a straight line, the Cambio or 6 speed? What are real 0-60 times, 0-100 times and 1/4 mile? Thanks
the real times seem very different if you read different magazines... I am very interested by accurate values... I am pretty sure the value must be different related to the cambio software release, because today the torque is limited in the 1st gear until 2000 rpm. it would probably help to not loose time with wheel spin !
The Cambiocorsa is a little slower than the 6 speed manual from 0-30 mph (too much wheelspin with the Cambio). From 30 mph onwards, the Cambio is faster due to its quicker gear shifts. So both the Cambio and the manual are roughly even from 0-60, doing the job in around 4.8 sec. 0-100 is around 11.2 for the Cambio, around 12 sec for the 6 speed. Quarter mile is 13.2 @ 110 mph for the Cambio. As for a comparison versus the Porsche 911 and Corvette... The Maser is faster than a normally aspirated 911 Carrera, but not as fast as a 911 Turbo. The Maser is also faster than all current Corvettes, but the special Z06 model. Of course, neither the Corvette nor the Porsche 911 can compete with the Maserati in style, accomodations, or noise. I picked the Maser over the 911 Turbo http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13429 Good luck!
I have also been trying to find that comparison on GT's to Cambio. But have had no luck all these listed below are Cambio. When I bought my 2002 M3SMG was told it was faster off line than the regular 6 speed but after numerous tests that was proven false. That should not really be the criteria for picking the transmission on this car anyway. Is way more about the way you want your driving experience to be. To me at least speed is all about perception and I find it just feels like I am going faster when I have to do the shifting with a clutch. Am sure soon enough some magazine will wind up testing the GT's versus the Cambio. But really does not matter what they come up with. They are both great but I went with GT as I did find myself missing the clutch pedal on my M3. Plus saving over 4,000 was not bad either.
