The family and I are going to be vacationing in London this August for about a week, seeing the sites. Can anybody recommend a good (say 4 or 5 star) hotel that is near a tube and in a "nice" area.

Any automobile museums or anything around there I should see?

    Thanks!

Hope when you say "nice" area you dont mean somewhere quiet?

I'd say if you are on holiday the usual suspects in West End of London would probably be more your cup of tea, so I'd say one of the hotels along the Park Lane stretch

    Four Season
    Hilton Metro
    Metropolitan
    Dorchester

All good hotels, although I would say that myself I think Knightsbridge is a little more classy so I'd say aim for the Berkeley.

Lots to do in London to be honest, so it depends what cooks yer goose, as it were.

    Madame Tasauds?
    London Dungeons?
    Tower of London?
    Buckingham Palace?

I dont know about motorcar related museums to be honest, I know there is an RAF museum in Hendon, North London.

Enjoy your stay, and if you want anything more specific just say.

    regards

I quite like the Savoy myself.. not as expensive as you'd think.

Make sure you pop into Coys of Kensington showroom. Always have a nice selection of classics and there is a 250 LWB California in there at the moment that has an "interesting" history (its a rebodied Boano).

Hall and Bradfield are also always worth a visit (also near Kensington). Lots of pre war Formula 1 cars and occasionally a 250 SWB on the premises.
