I am considering removing the catalytic converters on my 98’ 355. They stink like hell and probably aren’t helping the performance. I have seen ads for test pipes, test pipes with silencers, and, high flow cats. I’m not sure what would be the best choice. I put on a Tubi muffler so it’s pretty loud already, although I can’t complain about that. Also, I put on a pair of K&B air filters but I think the car felt better with the stock ones.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Test pipes with a Tubi will make the car much louder. Also, on my car, the car had a bad exhaust smell. I went to Hyper-Flow and really like the subdued sound and got rid of the bad smell. I don't think I lost anything as far as performance or increase heat.

Not sure where you live, Mark. If in the US, please leave your cats on. Not only will the environment be happier (i.e., the air you, I, your kids, and my grandparents breathe), but you will not risk felony arrest for removing federally mandated emissions equipment. Try HyperFlow cats instead--no stinkiness, no restriction, and no problem with the law!

Can’t I just crush some pre-emissions cars and use the EPA credits to offset my emissions? Just kidding. I think I will go with the Hyper-Flow cats.

I am in need of having my 1995 F355's catalytics replaced/rebuilt. Ferrari parts are something like $2300 per cat. I am told that the originals can be rebuilt. Also told that Hyper-Flow could work better and that I could get remanufactured Hyper-Flows. So, does anyone have an answer to these questions:
    1) Cost of a new Hyper-Flow cat? Cost of a rebuilt Hyper-Flow?
    2) From whom does one order a Hyper-Flow cat?
    3) Any experience with the cost of rebuilding the stock cats?
    4) Any experience with the stability/quality of a stock rebuilt cat?

    Thanks
