Lots of great pictures again Dave!!

Brian- I noticed you were wearing a media pass. Who or what company were you taking pictures for at the track?

If you can't say, I understand.

Well there are many reasons I was able to get a media pass. But mainly I shot the images of Bill Cotters #8 512M that were used on the posters, programs, shirts and anything else you can think of. As part of my letting SOVREN use these images I was given Media Creds.

I will be trying to get these images infront of anyone I can that may want to publish them. Hopefull it will be a profitable weekend.

I will be posting images on a webpage as soon as I finish editing the 5,120 frames I shot.

I shot only ~300. I SOOOOO have to invest in more memory. I actually went 1/2 way through and uploaded to the laptop in the car so I could get the second 150.

I'm hoping there is some way that I can figure out a way to swing media credentials next year. We'll see. Maybe I can be an assistant to you Brian? :)

Thanks all for the compliments - seriously inflates my head enough that I might go out and buy a couple new lenses... but must wait till I save for 456... then get lenses... then put lenses and camera in 456 and drive cross country...

We couldn't stay for Sunday, but made the most of Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Here are a few of my shots.

Highpoints this weekend for me were many, but included meeting tons of great people, dinner with Phil Hill, and a brief ride around the track in the Shadow. Nothing goes or sounds like raw horsepower!!

Yes, Boeing 502 turbine from the 50's. It was hooked to a gear box and standard differential. My dad knew the guy that built it and used to see it driving around way back when.

It's actually part of the LeMay collection now. They had it out a couple years ago at the show and fired it up. Very cool, must have been fun to drive around!

Must have been cool DRIVING it! My dad said the engine ran at a constant 35,000 RPM with a variable pitch stator that would transfer power to the gear box.

He also said a turbine like it was installed in a fully loaded semi-truck for tests. Application of power was too abrupt (driver error) and blew the gear box. They changed to a transmission out of a tank.

kafugelum308: Wow, my Grandpa would love to see this pic (old friend of Pete Lovely). Do you have something bigger so I can print it out?
