Why is this dumb ? I have driven both cars ( not on track but only on street ) and I personally am torn between the two. They are very different and one needs to be clear on why you want each one. I love the F40 for its purity and shape and would probably buy it before a CS.

Stick with the CS then. If the F 40 didn't MAKE you want it, I have a hunch you will not like living with it. It's not the kind of car you can live with without the passion for it. Just a hunch...I really know nothing.

My point was that I WOULD buy an F40 before a CS ! It does MAKE me want to own one. I said "I love the F40 for its purity and shape and would probably buy it before a CS"

the f40 is a cool car... it s not my favorite styling wise...i much perfer the f50 or even a tr or a 360... inside is very stark , it a serious track car.. with very low ground clearance ...not a commuter car .. also, i prefer the sound of a normally aspirated high reving 8 or 12 with a tubi to the whinning of a turbo engine...but the f40 is a maanual tranny car.. much more fun for me but it can also be a hand... a very light car..i quess we are compairing apples and oranges... perhaps one of each?

Two totally different ownership propositions, IMO. The CS is much more user friendly and quite a bit less expensive, both to buy and also to maintain. If you plan on using the car a lot on the street, with an F50 already in the stable, then get the CS. However, if you are putting together your own personal supercar collection, and cost is no concern, then of course the F40 takes it.

How can you even compare a CS to an F40? While I love the look of the 360's, there are so many around. The F40 is in my opinion the best Ferrari ever. I don't care if the CS could beat it around the track in reverse. When the race was over the guy in the CS would point his car forward again and drive over to gaze at the F40.

I think the CS is a great car , I owned one for 5 000 Kms, and really enjoyed the handling of the car especially the bracking and the grip, but I have to admit that the driving exitment is not even close to the exitment of the F40. The CS might be more effective on the track but your hart is defenetly pumping faster when you are driving an F40.
As a matter of fact I am looking forward to buy an F40. I already have a lot of stuff for the car, GT brembo brakes, lower gear ratios, oz wheels, ect.. now I am waiting for Santa to bring me tha car...

Well, to date, I have not driven either car. But hey that doesn't stop me from having an opinion, does it?

I'd echo Coach's comments. The newer cars are more fun to drive accross the the board. Also, you realize, of course, that the F40 has turbos. Some of us like turbos. Others, like me, don't. I much prefer trailing throttle on entry and power oversteer on exit than a point and shoot approach. Everybody I have ever talked to about an F40 says that you need to make sure that you are headed in a straight line when you pull that trigger, otherwise life can get just a little too interesting.

That said, if I had the money, I'd get an F40, or maybe a GTO.

    Take care, DrTax

    F40!

Don't care if the 360CS is faster ... just like I would not care that it is faster than a 250GTO or a 250LM, that is simply modern engineering and does not make it a greater car.

    Pete's opinion

If money isn't much of an issue, why not both CS and F40?

If you have an F50 on the way, I'd say go for broke and do all 3. Over time, you'll know which one you want to sell if you get bored.

A F40 is a real Ferrari the way they all should be, for me the only other alternative to an F40 is a F50 or an Enzo if money is no object and I am talking of the latest supercars 80s to today, and a close call is the 288GTO. Everything else is just that everything else. A 360Stradale is a great car but for me a Porsche GT2 is a better car, remember that everyone this is my opinion and taste, to each his own.

The Stradale will probably be a classic 25-30 years down the road, but the F40 is already a classic. Its not real hard saying the F40 would be more fun to drive (especially with those turbo's...whooooosh!), but the 360CS is quite a bit of fun to. This is quite a tough decision....im gonna have to pick the F40. It will obviously be more of a job to drive, but if your at all thinking about the trade, you wont regret it once you do it.

There are good reasons to choose F40 over CS; and there are good reasons to choose CS over F40. The question is... how do you plan to use it?

You own an F50... one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever... one of the fastest Ferraris ever... one of the most technologically sophisticated Ferraris ever. Why are you getting a second Ferrari? The answer will likely dictate which is the better second Ferrari for you.

For example, if you plan to keep the F50 low miles and in concorso condition and want a practical daily driver as a second Ferrari, then get the CS! On the other hand, if you are trying to build a collection of concorso quality classic Ferraris, then an F40 would be an outstanding companion to your F50.

Personally, I advocate getting a Ferrari and using it to its fullest... and thus advocate the CS over the F40.

Sorry F-40 lovers. Way too "kit car" looking. Great sound, but the F-50 appears and drives much more refined.

Nick, glad it worked out for you.

Like many said, it depends on what's your purpose of buying F40 or CS.

Since you have F50, F40 could be downgrading (Sxxx, this doesn't sound right!) But if you want collection of Super Ferrari, owning F40 & F50 is just Enzo away (well 280GTO, too)

For daily drive, I'm sure you have more practical cars. What was your purpose for getting CS?

I had an F40 for 3.5 years...I drove it work (not everyday)...tracked it, took it on trips. It is also the only car that I ever missed when I sold it.

It was reliable...an absolutely brilliant performer. I enjoyed the crudeness of the thing. It was totally in character of the car. I haven't driven the CS...I'm sure that it's fine...but it won't be an occasion like an F40.

From a reliability standpoint it was bullit proof....and it had killer AC!

    Get the F40!! Ciao...Dino

With the F40 expect that what it lacks makes it better than the 360. No tilt wheel, no f1 gearbox, more ponies, more noise, faster, rougher ride, pure magic. just don't be putting 5000 miles on the street on this car, it is like using a Prada original hand bag as a lunch pail for a kindergartener. If I ever get another, I am headed back to the track, and this one I will be allowed to drive, no partners, nada.

dont get me wrong i think the cs is a buttery car one of my favorite but there is something much more aggresive about the F40 i mean that was my dream car when it came out and i agree with JC is you have a F50 already and a CS then i am sure you can afford the F40 as well that way you can still have your every day CS and your once a week F40 and you occasional F50 but if you ask me i would much rather have the F40 over the F50 any day.

Yimn, you lost me here. there is more than 60%-70% difference in values between the F40 and CS. the CS can be had for $197K meanwhile a nice F40 is around $340K and up depending on the condition and the mileage.
