    Purged the A/C when I removed powertrain for service. Ready to recharge system but not sure what the refrigerant is. Model year '94 is when most manufacturers were converting R12 to 134a. My owners manual specs Freon 12. Was R12 still in use for the '94 348 spider? Thank you, John.

    Take a look and see if the connections are for a 134 gauge or a R12 gauge

    Sparta is right. The fittings are totally different. R-12 is smaller and the threads are external on the fittings. R-134 has internal threads and are much larger.

    If i am not mistaken yours is R-12. I think the federal standards mandated R-134 in 95.
