    Not sure I follow. I went to two of those schools. Did you just want the email extensions used? Not much more sophisticated than university.edu.

    My best friend goes to harvard and swears by it, don't really see why it's so big but apparently everyone who's anyone is signed up...

    Because you enter your classes and you can see everyone in your classes and basically be a big stalker. It's not as bad as that, I suppose, but people do seem to spend hours procrastinating by scrolling through everyone who goes to their school.

    It is also frequently used as a verb meaning to look someone up on the site.
    Example:
    Person A: I was sitting with John Smith today.
    Person B: Who is he? What does he look like?
    Person A: I'll show you. Lets "facebook" him.

    I use it to contact other classmates, it's easier to look them up under the user list.. I also use it to email my resume via job applications... Recruiters and hiring managers are more inclined to open my email since an EDU address with my name on it is a more credible source than some random person sending it via hotmail or AOL...
