I've always had a soft spot for the styling of the 550.
You'll note I did not mention either the TR or the 512 as one of the most beautiful Ferrari. Only that the TR is the most recognized shape from Ferrari and when you mention "Ferrari" to a non-ferrari person that is the car that they will think of, thanks to a certain television show.
Yes, both great looking cars. However, the red car in the left corner of the picture has piqued my interest. Do you have a pic of the whole car or know what it is? I also have to agree with turboflat4, the 550 is classic and I can still remember exactly where i was and what i was doing the first time I saw one. Only a handful of cars have that distinction.
I would have to say the most beautiful of the newer models would be the 360 Modena, but my all time favorite would be the F40. That automobile will always be etched in my memory as the greatest car, I remember the folder I had as a kid the had a picture of an F40 but was incorrectly labeled as a Testorossa. Please forgive my spelling, I'm not a Ferrari expert. Yet!
Hi.......... My vote: 330 P4 without livery. See picture on page 207 in "Ferrari: the Sports and Gran Turismo Cars" by Fitzgerald and Merritt with Thompson, 1973 by Bond/Parkhurst Publications [ISBN 0-87880-019-0][Library of Congress Card Number 73-81325]. Absolutely magnificent machine !!!!!! Frank..........
Of all time, the F40. The Enzo comes close. Moving into non-road cars, the F50GT and the 333SP are gorgeous, as are the current F1 cars.
I think it's an age thing. While it may be true that for some people the name Ferrari brings up the TR because of MV, it can also be said that anybody that grew up in the 70s and 80s watching the tube will think of a red 308GTS long before they conjure up the image of a white TR.
I guess I simply like the unobscured and succinct elegance as well as timeless beauty and design, of the ever present 308 series. Not too much, not to little, not too cheap not too expensive either. Just like the "baby bears" poraige... to me, it's just right.
I agree 100%---most beautiful and best sounding. Buy one from Dane Prenovitz, Dani Investment Sports Cars---he has some great ones.
the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, 40 years ago, on the Quickway (Rt 17) in the Catskills. I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen and I have yet to see a prettier one from Ferrari or anyone else. Of current Ferraris I'm inclined to like the 612 Scaglietti the one that best captures the fluidity of line that marks Ferraris of the 1960s. High marks to the: 246 GT/GTS Dino, 250 GT SWB, California Spider and 2+2 (GTE) and the awesome 365 GTB/4 Daytona. I think the Daytona really loses somethin when they remove the top, I was glad to hear on Speed TV that Daytona coupes now bring as much $ as the Spiders.
I've never thought any F1 cars were beautiful with a very few exceptions: Ferrari 246 (Sharknose), Lotus 49, Gurney-Weslake Eagle. The 312T Ferrasis aren't bad but don't quite get to "beautiful" IMO.
My favorite F1 Ferrari is the F187 Look at the proportions on this thing: http://www.***************.com/large/173-1.jpg
340 America 288 GTO F40 355 Berlinetta & spider 360 spider & challenge stradale 575M Just some of my fav.'s
It will always be the paid for one sitting in my garage. But, the 250GTL a/k/a Lusso is one good looking car!
250 GT Nembo Spyder - what a car! The 250 GT California is a great car too. Take Cameron Frye's word for it - http://www.xs10shl.com/fbdo-ferrari.wav
