Finally got my headliner and rear deck material replaced. I didn't use the exact same material but went for something fairly close. Didn't turn out too bad in my opinion. These pictures aren't the best since it was kind of dark out but oh well. The only thing left to do now is re-dye the seats this fall...I can't wait. I love this car!

Hired it out...didn't have the space or the skills to do this myself. It took the guy who did it about 4 days and he was still putting it together when I showed up to pick it up. He said it was a pretty tough job but for $600 it was worth it to me ;-)

Have you ever done it? It's a pain in the butt - The materials (especially if they aren't exact) would be fairly cheap, but the labor would be a lot.

Nope...they had to remove the pieces themselves. I just dropped the car off and picked it up a few days later. It was something like $100 in material and $500 in labor. They told me they had to take out the windows to remove the rear shelf and well as removing the bolts from the engine compartment. I just know that if I had done it myself, I probably would have broken something costing more than the $600...just my luck.

It looks very nice indeed, Jesse. And for a very reasonable fee. I have it easy with my 1976 GTB as the rear deck is black vinyl like the dashboard and the headliner is an off-white textured vinyl. It's held up well over the years and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

What a coincidence - I just got mine back this past week. I selected a creme leather, as I thought that it might be easier to clean than cloth.

Hey great minds think alike! I did mine in brown leather because the wool gets so dirty with the targa top.

Here are a couple before & after pics :

The whole mess is documented here :

Barry, thanks...I kinda wish mine were vinyl as well but I like the way creme cloth looks againt the tan carpet.

    Dave,

Nice!! That creme leather looks great with the black carpet. I thought about doing the leather thing as well but I went with the cloth for the more original look plus the creme leather looks better against the black carpet vs. the tan carpet in my opinion.

I think it was pretty reasonable considering the super job they did.

while , I didn't recover mine when I had my 308 I did remove all the pieces to clean them . it wasn't a piece of cake but $500 ??? seems steep considering once they are out it is not that difficult to recover them. I just had two pieces of leather replaced on my seats and the seats redyed for 1/3 of the cost

I'm comin' to New Orleans to get mine done then! :)

Actually, mine are black vinyl, like Dr. Barry's. In the GTBs they don't get the wear or the sun exposure.

If only my PO hadn't mounted those round Buck Rogers speakers with SO MANY SCREWS! :(

That's my next task is to disassemble the seats, the door panels and the console and send them to Alden's. I'm going to wait until the summer's over though. Again, $600 might be somewhat high, but I'm sure the back window would cost much more than that if I had accidentally smashed something thru trying to remove the trim myself ;-)

WOW, they all look great guys! Now I have feelings of great inadequacy - with my soiled rear deck and droopy top. Is there such a thing as deck envy? Har!
