Just checked on the price for a set of CS front brake pads: US $1800! Wow

I will have to check mine soon to see how much wear. I have done 3 track days so far. I'll post my findings.

oh yeah, Watt, in answer to your question. Ferrari recommend lower rear pressure when cold, because once hot they will come up more than the front due to the work load.

You may argue that this has always been the case with Ferrari, but the extreme low profile tyres have greater pressure fluctuations than higher profile tyres due to the volume of air inside.

The lower the volume, the greater the benefits of using Nitrogen to inflate. Still a bit extravagant for a road car, but if it helps avoid wasting perfectly good tyres...why not?

I've done 3 track days so far, and my car has about 2900 miles. I have about 80% pads left.

is 80% what the SD2 says or did they measure the pads?

at my 5K I had 95% left with 4 track days and they measured pad thickness

I think the pad thickness was measured. Collin at Speedware, where I had my car aligned, did the measuring.

I didn't think SD2 reported pad wear... just rotor wear.

Thomas, what did the SD2 say your rotor wear was at your 5k?

unfortunately I don't know - last time the SD2 could not talks to the instrument cluster and at the 5K I did not ask

I was confused about Ray's percentage number meaning - did not read it correct - but you are right pad wear is checked by the pad wear indicator and the bake failure light and by measuring thickness - and from the manual: Brake disc wear

"The dashboard operating software includes a calculation algorithm that, based on the vehicle’s condition of use (e.g.: decelerations caused by braking), will calculate a wear factor for the carbon discs, that will be displayed as a wear percentage, %.

This factor will be periodically compared with a limit threshold (100%). When the latter is reached, an amber colour message will appear on the multi-function display ( H 1.03) (danger of possible failure of the brake discs). This will warn the driver that the brake discs must be replaced.

Once the brake discs have been replaced, the wear indicator on the dashboard can be reset ( H 1.01).

    NOTES

The wear indicator on the dashboard can be reset only if the brake discs are consequently replaced and after the wear factor has exceeded 100%."

my only regret after 600 miles is that i didnt get one sooner.

CS is close to the perfect performance street car, better than GT2/3 by far: lighter, handles better, massive gas tank means 8 day fills for me vs. 4 day in Gt2 and long travel range, F1 great commuting, good luggage room, car very very very fun to pound up and down the mountains!!!!! we'll try Buttonwillow next week, but i can tell it will be amusing.

the only major negative: rollbar and harness installation a total hassle and $$$ with risk to your CS.

minor negative: backing up is scary toward obstacles

Finally a 360CS with proper factory harness, did you order it with 4 point harness or are those installed after delivery. Beautiful car!

I did order it with the 4 point harness, in fact the 4 point harness is the default harness here. If you would like to have the 3 point harness you would have the option to "downgrade at no extra cost." ;-) (btw: same true with the sliding windows instead of the power windows).

    one more comment.

much as i luv my CS, it is NA, you must remember that. i hammer steep uphill mountains roads every day and coming home from my son's goalkeeping practise tonight we were passing cars up a steep mountain road:

    - a GT2 stripped of 300# would be a gift from God -- it [stock] does have much more passing power on my roads than a CS. i was writing poems between gear shifts tonight.
-- CS A/C is rather marginal ... the best word. it was 97 in TO tonight And the CS could barely keep us cool on the MIN setting... needs better air. mAYBE Brian has Texas A/c advice.

still a shreddin' piece of work

Wow, what a waste of CS getting compared to GT2! Were you crusing in 5th gear up the hill?

Huh? Take your CS in and get it fixed!
The CS comes with the best AC I've ever had in any car! By far!!!

I just set it on Auto / Auto / 70' and it keeps the car perfect... even compensating for the blazing sun shining in the windows via the second sensor. I can hop in my car after sitting in >100' temps baking... and the AC will get it cool in no time at all... no need to even turn it manually to max... it just does it.

And you might have them look at your engine, too... mine had no problems at all accelerating hard up the steep mountain roads of Colorado. It was down on power a bit, but not really too noticable and certainly not an issue.

i gather you never owned a GT2 or you wouldnt make that comment... it's an amazing package. if you could remove 300#, say by pulling the side airbags/door panels, installing CF front panels, no carpets, no tunnel, light wheels, seats etc, it's handling would approach CS handling and the out of corner and uphill squirt would be second to none, hmmm it's already second to none. and please note i have given the CS its due.

the GT2 is the most appropriate comparison and alternative for CS: same price point, same performance oriented target customer.

and as a matter of fact, i was running between 6500 and 8500 the whole way up. torque is for uphill as you know.

    thanks brian,

i'll have the air checked -- there's plenty of flow but it doesnt feel very cold...

and the power is excellent, it's just that my frame of reference uphill is 454 ft. lbs of torque.

here in July hot humid DC, the Stradale a/c does very well - I'd trust rick, he has twice as much experience as anyone else ;)

though not as torquey as the 575, the Stradale does pretty well - i'm a little surprised by your engine comment, but I suppose it depends a bit on what you compare the Strad to ....
