Never underestimate the prices that collectors will pay for something unique. The car is "worth" whatever the guy can get for it. If some rich guy who loves Ferraris because he saw his first one on Magnum PI comes along and just HAS to have that car for the bragging rights ("I own THE Magnum PI car"), he will pay it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the car sold for that much. I wouldn't pay it, but someone will.

Most of us throw out logic and reason when we deal with our Ferrari addiction. This one should be no different.

Hey, in one of the pictures on the eBay auction you can see the interior. First, if I'm correct, the steering wheel is not correct for the carb cars. Second, the tops of the seats don't look correct (unless they're seat covers). Also, ins't the top of the center console ahead of the gearshift supposed to be black? And finally, the speaker covers in the door panels don't look correct. The carb cars (and this is a carb car--you can tell by the location of the window switches) had actual chrome-colored ribbed metal quadrangle-shaped covers, while these look like octagonal perforations in the door panel itself.

Also, the side view mirrors don't look like the correct, rounded "California" ones that I thought carb cars had...

For what it's worth, the side view mirror in the picture with Magnum (rounded in shape) seems to be a different shape than the passenger one in the picture of the interior.

In another one of the picutres, the top is painted the body color...

Bit of a frankenstein of a 308? Wouldn't surprise me after 80k+ miles and the "gee whiz" owners who might be attracted to this car vs. your more daily driver / enthusiast crowd...

Agree with Jonathan--quite possible somebody will pay to have the car. Again, the issue is that there were multiple 308s used in the show. And again, seriosuly, everyone thinks my 328 is "The" magnum car--so nyah!

Mike ... yeah, you're right about the centre console, steering wheel and speaker panels ! Hadn't noticed that (though the seats look fine to me, same as my car) I bet the centre console is just a bit of carpet or something that's been dropped into the square indent. Is that a 246 steering wheel ?!?

He mentions the colour coded roof in the text, done by a previous owner.

The rear view mirrors are definately wrong for a carb car, though both left and right hand side mirrors appear to be identical to me (square). The rounded sort in the Tom Selleck shot are the correct ones, but that car probably isn't the car that's being sold here ...

Okay, so the auction went to $60k then stopped, car didn't sell because the reserve price was not met. The guy's wishful thinking, methinks ....

(btw why did he put an estimate of $60k-$80k but then put a reserve higher than $60k ?!?!? Muppet ...)
