Wow, Today ferrari show the ferrari 612 in sweden for the first time and i whas there and i was one of the happy ones who test the car. :D :D :D It was an incredible car. I have only drive the ferrari 355 with f1-gearbox before so i have just a litle expirens of that. Byt this gearbox was muth better. You who allowd to drive it softer in low speed.
The only thing i dont lika was that there is very litle space for the legs. :( Im 175cm long and i was not happy witch space when i drive. And sitt behind me?! No not a chans.

Wow! Thats a pretty special opportunity....the F1 gearbox in the 612 is much improved over the gearbox in the 355 and even 360 (which provides very good shifts). I believe the improved 'box is now named F1-A, or something like that, for an improved automatic mode? I read this somewhere in Forza or Sports Car International. This is good because the automatic mode was very clunky in the 360...it looks like the 612 wouldn't really have a hard time accomodating tall drivers, hmm...thats odd. I'm not sure how much legroom tall drivers had in the 456, but they should have improved that in the 612. Thanks for posting!

Yes you have right the gearbox is called F1-A and it was the 4 generations... The engine was place behind the frontwheel so you have 48% in front and 52% of the wight back.

I show that someone with a height of 175cm is 5'8". I dont think you should have a problem with leg room in the 612! i'm 6'6" (198cm) and I sat in a 612
up by San Francisco, and I shocked the FNA guys with plenty of legroom and headroom! I'm kind of excited about it. I could use the 3rd seat for my kids(nobody will sit behind me). But right now i'm enjoying my 99 550 in which I lowered the seat 1" to fit comfortably.

    Hey but that's a sacrilege.....
Ferrari had a car with similar side but unicolour from 1954 some years before the known version of the Vette with similar side....the 375 MM Coupe' Speciale Pinin Farina 0456AM made for Rosselini as a gift for Ingrid Bergman, and from that car we have today the colour "Ingrid"...

Probably not, since it has a 5.7 liter motor.

    Looks like nobody knows.

Yeah, as Paris mentioned, they say Corvette got the scallops from Ferrari. I wonder how long it will be until some does get it two-tone like this? Or will Ferrari wait and pull a half-hearted marketing ploy and give it two-tone paint and call it the Rubens Barichello edition?

I think 6 is a aproximation of 5.7 because 5712 not sounds so good like the 612 does

I heard that Ferrari rounded the 5.7 number upto 6 hence 612.I happen to have one on order it's black with red interior med gray inserts and med gray stiching.Dealer tells me it should arrive in late november.

    Sorry, I don't agree. They named the 308, 328, 348, 360, 550, 575 on tight 200 cc increments, I don't think they're going to generalize like that.

Whether you agree or not, this quote, cut straight from the Ferrari Owner's site confirms Ferrari's reasoning for the name:

..."The 6 of the 612 indicates the car’s displacement (5,748 cc rounded off), while 12 is the number of cylinders boasted by the engine."...

Mine will be Rubino Micalizzato (sp?) with Nero interior. Mid-September build date, means delivery just in time to test the traction control out on fresh snowy mountain passes of the Pacific Northwest. WOOOHOOOO!!! We'll be on the road all October if I have any say in the matter. :)
