Anyone know good source for carbon replacement piece (308QV distributor). Prefer not to buy new cap.

The carbon brush, spring and pointed screws are the same as those used in 50's/60's Lucas distributor caps. Look for caps that have the wires entering at 90 degrees ("side entry" ala 308) as opposed to straight in from the top (which doesn't use screws). Lucas used several different length screws to reach wires that entered caps at various heights so a "match up" would be good. I salvaged screws from an old NOS Austin Healey 3000 cap that my local parts house wanted to get rid of for just $1.

    For example: early MGB http://propermg.com/gdc102.htm

Just another option in the search for realistic prices.
