the car returned a miserly 4MPG under test conditions ! It also beat the 360CS on track by 0.4 of a sec. Should have video clip tomm.
Only 28 RHD into the Uk and Clasksons bought one. Even though they proved he can't get in into it when it's parked next another car because of the shaped doors!! Is that funny or what.
and with a small gas tank..17.5gallons (I believe), its range will be miniscule if you are pushing it hard..
I to saw top gear tonight, love the ford gt. It did look messy going around the track, the ferrari CS must be one hell of a car if thats the best the ford could beat it by,and the fords 120ish bhp more.
Except the CS weighs like 600lbs less and costs 60K more in MSRP. I would hope the more expensive car, which is modeled after a race car, would be faster.
They estimated that with a full tank and driving it fast it would travel 75 miles before running out of fuel.
Guess the 90 mile silverstate might tax it? Not really, since it would all be 5th & 6th gear and would have to do better than that!!!!!
Galpin ford the U.S.'s largest Ford dealer is getting 6 cars!!! These are going to be tough to get the first year!!!!
sheesh, you still don't know where to download top gear and 5th gear episodes? http://gear.viper007bond.com/ Go to downloads; it's the bottom one - July 18th
Now that I've been able to download and watch the video, all I have to say about the mileage is this. What do you think the CS gets around the track? Its EPA fuel economy is 11 city and 16 highway. You don't really think its going to get 11 on the track do you? Figure that it gets between 4-6 mpg on the track/very spirited driving. Perhaps one of the CS owners here can share their experience with it on the track/spirited driving? So, now that I have this information what I should be doing is looking into the manufacturing of a fuel cell for the GT to get it a 25 or 35 gallon capacity, Im sure most of the owners would appreciate such a modification.
It's interesting that it didn't touch the SLR's or Carrera GT's times. It's still INCREDIBLE value for the money, but what we thought would be Enzo-like performance looks to be a little short of that mark. Still an awesome car.
That's what I've been saying since the Car and Driver road test...that car was a ringer, way over the top in all parameters. These numbers look like the production car performance I expected. It will be incredible value for the money when you can buy it at MSRP. But even at MSRP, I'd rather have a CS, personally. Gary
Gary To each his own....I got my deposit back on a CS for a Gallardo, and I might sell the Gallardo to get a GT? So no way no how would I prefer a CS!! But that is just me!
