In 1990, I was in a jazz club in Amsterdam, sharing a table with locals and other tourists. After a fresh pitcher arrived, everyone was raising their glass and saying "prost". I raised my glass and said "Nigel Mansell". Blank stares around. And I thought F1 was popular in Europe. (I guess during World Cup week, all other sports fall off the radar.) Now I'm glad I didn't say "Lauda".
