front end clearance - 360 v. 355?

which has less front end clearance? anyone have the ride height and distance from front tires to front of the nose? both have long noses but the 360 at least angles up at the front. plus, i've always thought the 355 seemed lower overall as well.

i guess the question is if a 360 barely clears going into a driveway at an angle, would a 355 be better or worse?

Clearence on 355 is 4 inches.....don't know about 360, tho'.

 

360 has a 4.2" of ground clearnace.

 

The ground clearance of a 355 is a lot worse than a 360 at the front. I have had both cars and know that for a fact. the 360 is actually very good at the front better than my previous 996 Turbo.

 

Yes, 360 has better ground clearance than the 355, which seemingly scraped on the flattest of roads. They tried to incorporate such a feature on purpose to the 360 design. The raised nose may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but you don't scrape it as much.

 

What makes the 355 a ***** on driveways is that it has a longer nose. The distance from the front tire to the end of the bumber is 34"...almost 3 feet!

The aftermarket scrape shields make a world of difference.

 

I have the ali skid plates from Paul Hill and they do a great job.

 

thanks for the replies. i was almost certain that would be the unfortunate consensus...

w/ regards to the skid plates, though, at what point does the pressure applied to the nose from scraping become damaging/problematic, setting aside the cosmetic damage... or is it no big deal when going slowly? i never scraped the nose driving around in the 355, i'm worried about pulling into and out of my driveway (the 360 clears by maybe 1/2 inch, probably more like a 1/4 inch).

 

I have set of brand new aluminum skid plates for a 355 if anyone is interested. Complete with all the hardware. PM me if you're interested.

 

I used live on the hills and getting in and out of my driveway was major pain. If you took the angle right there was no problem. Every once in a while I forgot and sure enough scrape, but it never damaged the bumper or structure, it was only cosmetic. This is going to happen on the road as well, especially pulling in and out of gas stations.

 

Although the 355 has more clearance when you are measuring inches, I still have problems with scraping the 360 even on very graduated transitions (driveways to streets, multi-level parking garages, etc.). The scraping tends to happen where the skid plates are attached or the pan on the underside, not on the painted bumper. You should experience a fair amount of scraping on both models.

 

Scraping a nose on tilted drive way is just way of 355, I thought. Now I am more careful which gas station to take her, driving off from my drive way, etc.

Does installing skid plate help? Cosmetically, how does it affect?

Remind me to show you the plates I had installed the next time we get together. When you look at the car from the front, you can barely see them attached under the front bumper. I would definitely grab a pair....I purchased the titanium ones from Hill Co. I always spot check the underside of the car when I wash it and judging from how they look now vs. when I had them installed...they are definitely doing their job.
