    LA for now,NJ really
    2 part question:
    1) What kind of car can you get in the 200-250K range (new or used but in the '90-present range)?
    2) Out of those cars from question 1, what car would you choose?

    My answer to question 1:
    575M
    F40?
    Murci
    Vantage
    Arnage
    XJ220
    Vector

    Porsche 959 (1988)

I would choose the XJ220 because it is close to my heart. Emotion aside - Murci.

Sorry guys, F40 is not in this price range range. That's what makes the question so interesting. Got to be closer to 200K than to 300K

Id probibly buy a Steal gray 355 6 speed, treat it to a full roll cage, Enzo style CF seats, a head light swap from flip to stationary (for aero dynamics), Two turbos, all the motor parts to go with it, a few sets of rims, biggest for show, little smaller with slicks for race day and so on. I guess you would call me a "tuner", with 200K id buy a "Cheep" car and fully mess with it. :)

I would buy a $200k home, and then get on the list for a Lotus Elise, and buy a cheap everyday car. Kia??? That's just me though, thinking rationally.

Not all of us live in Kansas. ;) In my neck of the woods, 850K will get you a foreclosed, trashed, half the roof missing, starter house.

    And Kia???!!! Yikes.

    Warenn,

Make it a yellow or Orange Murci for me. :)

Is it really necessary to be rational on a pure fantasy thread though? LOL

I always get a kick out of the fact that even in pure fantasy scenarios, there will always be the "buy a house and put the rest in stocks" suggestions.

The post is about buying cars!!!! Assume for the scenario you already have $1B in the bank, $1B in stocks, $1B in real estate and $1B in gold and platinum and are spending $200-$250k on a car to "see if it can be done". =)

I think I'd go AM Vanquish in that price range. Ironically, most of the cars I'd really want are actually cheaper (Ford GT, F355/F360, Diablo, Gallardo, Porsche GT2).

It doesnt really have to say it... Figure if the question is asked for real, the guy probably isnt spending his last $250k on a car and prob has his financials pretty well handled. Either way, its not our money, so it becomes a fantasy question. The guy wasnt asking HOW to use $250k, after all, only what car...

And good choice, btw (on the CS) =)
