    Lately I've found myself reaching for the mute button more than usual. It's a mix of annoying sound effects and/or dopey ad writing and production. Are any of these on your personal lists? In no particular order:

    1) Goofball revving-up his Porsche Cayenne in the driveway with a cordless phone underneath the car. Like that's going to give his buddy an idea what it sounds like at 4000 RPM;

    2) Any of the new Subaru commercials with a re-inventing the wheel or NASA rocketship theme. Puul-eze, do something about it's dumpy frumpy, "only a Japanese housewife would love"-styling;

    3) Any of the Smiling Bob commercials for the "natural" male enhancement pills. But I guess as long as 15 & 16-year-old boys are calling...;

    4) Chevy ads (car, not the restaurant) that play to death Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf. How many times to you have to hear "I like to dream..." before cringing. Runners-up include Led Zep's music for Cadillac (Cadillac??) and Bob Segar's "Like A Rock" for Chevy trucks.

    5) Any of the Red Bull cartoon commercials. Have to wonder what kind of focus groups did they run this past?

    It was cute the first time. just not the next 5,000 (literally) times I've seen it.

    What about those damn bulls going through the city being chased by Escalades? Actually, I take that back, please... make sure to include ANY and ALL Chevy ads that include Led Zeppelin in their commercials. Yes, all of them. I love the band, but those commercials cause myself and those around me to become violent enough to shoot the guy that created those.

    That is such a horrible advertisement. But what do you expect from the first and only car to be named after a cooking ingredient!!!

    I was going to start a thread in the Racing section about that stupid Cayenne commercial - there needs to be a ban on Porsche adds during F1 coverage fer peets sake!

    The other one where the Dad yells at his kid at the diner table is just plain offensive.

    Yeah, dad's a real a.h. in that one (I don't mean austin-healey). The only good commercial from that series is the RV driver that runs to the rear, while on cruise control, to get a better look.

    Those idiotic "Orbitz" commercials with the puppet like figures and that gum with the British gal that makes your teeth whiter. Absolutely atrocious!

    The K&N commercial with the twins, with their lifted p/u and import car, jabbering about some stupid bs.

    Most idiotic banter as well as worst acting seen on tv.

    I wish someone would find out the advertising budget for all the domestic car companies and divide it by the total number of vehicles sold to find out how much is wasted per vehicle on mindless drivel trying to influence people to buy their worthless crap. My guess is $2000 per car. If so, then I'm going to demand that number be deducted from the final sales price when I buy my next car, since I've become immune to all your asinine car ads, and in no way did they affect any part of my decision to buy your POS I'm wanting to own (minus all dealer rebates/incentives/holdbacks/kickbacks/bribes, of course). Too bad all cars can't be like F-cars and sell themselves...

    The one I-don't-want-to-remember-the-name-of, where a bunch of idiots are lip-synching and dancing around while "brushing" their teeth with some type of blue finger-glove.

    Most ASININE commercial ever!

    The ones that play dated rock and roll to try and enhance Cadillac's image so "babyboomers" will buy them are the funniest.

    The Smiling Bob on Viagra ones are stupid but give me a laugh.

    I used to really hate those Intel Pentium ones with the three guys in blue greasepaint.

    Hey! I like that Cayenne commercial!!! Really. I thought it was really cool. As a matter of fact, I saw it just tonight, and actually upped the volume! lol

    The K&N ads are always ****ty. I thought that they could hire a decent publicity company. Really makes me wanna run away from K&N.

    I dislike all prescription drug ads where the announcer reads off all the drug's benefits, and then, with the same upbeat voice, reads off the "possible side effects" (which might even include death) as required by law. It just sounds so ridiculous.

    Gee Spook, have you been reading my mind? As far as I'm concerned, strap Smiling Bob to a telephone pole and aim a Cadillac on cruise control right at him with the radio playing Stairway to Heaven.
    And after Smiling Bob is pushing up daisies, send his wife over to http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26742
    where she can get some tips on his replacement!

    Citibank "what's in your wallet?" ads. I hate them more than ever that David Spade is starring in the newest one.

    &

    Boost Mobile Phone "where you at?" There is nothing more disturbing than old people getting their "freak on."

    ANY, and I mean ANY commercial with Gilbert Godfrey. Even that goofy Aflac duck, I just want to shoot it and stuff it in my oven! How this guy passes for a comedian is well beyond me.

    There is a Chappell show skit titled something like "When keepin' it real goes bad," where Chappell gets beat up in a club, loses his job and then has to move in with Granny. The scene where "granny's boyfriend" commands Dave to run on down to the store and "get me some rubbers, you know, the big ones" is hysterical!!

    The citi ads are every bit as annoying. The stupid "Thank You" ads. It makes Citi sound as if they are saying thank to its customers for being stupid. If you mistake a fat woman for being pregnant, just say thank you and everything is OK. Citi is the one saying "Thank you" what does that make us?

    Nothing makes me reach for the "mute" button faster than that weight drug commecial (can't think of the name of it) where the "doctor" starts off by saying, "no offense, but if you're only looking to lose 10-15 pounds, then xxxx is not for you" then goes on to say how his snake oil targets specific fat enzymes in the body.

    Gimme a frikkin' break. If he's a doctor I'm Lawrence Welk. :mad:
