yo heard from cc on yesterday that this years event will be sick. f50, f40s, enzos plus a special appearance by the F-Chat Tri-State Playas.
if i can make it i'll probably have an open seat. too far out for me to be sure now, but i'd like to go. especially if i can get free gas!
chris, you sure now? jeff has a v-12 and drives like schumi. youre going to pay for 4 round trip fill ups! =)
i was thinking the free gas offer was too good to be true since gas for an average weekend drive would probably be interchangeable with a good weekend deal flying to europe! figured i'd jump while i had the chance though.
K. I did some research (i'm bored) and lets just say.........From NYC to Morristown is approximatly 40 miles. So a round trip would be 80 miles. I could meet up with you someplace. Since I live about an hour and a half from NYC. Ok The 2001 550 has a fuel capacity of 30 gallons with an estimated 11 MPG. Let's just use the figure of $2.50 a gallon of super, it would cost approximatly $75 to fill the tank with a range of say 330 miles. Since that would be about 1/4 of your tank. Then I would be more than happy to have a ride in the ferrari, attend the show, and give you $18.75. Hell I might even make it an even $20. lol. Sound right?
I'm entertained by the approach, but none of the numbers are actually anything I can relate to. For starters, I've never been able to validate that my tank holds anywhere near 30 gallons. But that doesn't actually figure into the question at hand. It just put me on guard to start! And the mileage is definitely very driving dependent. When I did mostly long drives out of state at smooth highway speeds, I might have even done better than 11 mileage-wise. But when doing a "spirited drive" as is likely with anyone in this crew I doubt I would break ten. And then, finally, I rarely get anywhere within designated mileage constraints. I'm not sure if it's the irresistible sidetrips on back-country roads or just the fact that I get lost all the time, but since gas is burned according to course driven as opposed to course planned, there can be an often significant difference! All in all, things can be pretty unexpected. But I guess in retrospect there's a decent chance a weekend trip to Europe would cost more!
I heard a rumour that this event will be held in Florham Park instead of the gentleman's home in Morristown. (Yes, that was his lawn that was able to accomodate several hundred Ferraris). We could have it on my lawn but then we would have a show of about 3 cars, LOL.
Sounds good. I will try to make it. Will be a little hard since I will be starting school and work again at the same time but I will try my best.
Just at classic today. And it will be A LOT of fun to see those cars outside on display. Inside is one thing but outside is TOTALLY different.
