I just got back from my trip to Houston Texas for the SuperBowl. While I was there I went to Ferrari of Houston, they had a few nice cars in the showroom like a 360 Spider, 550 Barcceta, 2 Maserati coupes, 355 Spider, 512bbi, and a 275 GTB! I loved that 275. There was just this one car that really stumped me. Do any of you know what it is?

I think Barchetta.cc has this one slightly wrong. This is indeed 0612 MDTR, a 500 TR ("high body") owned by a friend of Giuseppe Risi, the FOH owner. There were only three 625 LMs, all factory team cars. They were 0632, 0642, and 0644. Following the '56 LeMans race the 2.5 liter engines were removed from these cars, 2 liter engines fitted, and the cars were sold. (One, 0642, is raced in the Shell Historic series and was at the Cavallino Classic.)

I know where two of these engines went: they were installed in 0672 MDTR and 0680 MDTR, both described on their data sheets as 625 TRCs. It's possible that the third engine went into 0612...but it's still a TR, not a 625 LM.

    Thanks for the pics ETW

This car is 0612 MDTR. In 1956 it was originaly made as a 500TR. But after a couple of races they fitted a 2.5-litre engine (same engine as in the 625LM).

I've seen this car already a couple of times, because it have participated in the european Shell Historic Challenge until 2002.

I saw this Ferrari about 4 years ago at a store in Pittsburgh. I think it's a 625 (as it said "1 of only 3" on the car), but the hood looks different. It mentioned the 4 cylinder engine, but I don't remember if it said it was still installed or replaced with the V12. I wasn't in to vintage Ferrari at the time, so I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. Also, any guesses on the really old racer to the right of it? How about the current market value?

Of note, the photo was originally black and white and was recolored in photoshop. Therefore, the colors may not be accurate (though the car most definately was rosso corsa).

Did all of the 118's become 121's? Simply a change of the engine?

All of the 121 LMs, 3 or 4 total, had straight 6s powering them. One of them was owned by George Shelley in the early 1990s and didn't resemble the car pictured.

I don't think the nose on the 625 is original...not sure about the hood scoops
